Surprised they came back so quickly! I managed to order one last Friday from GameStop online when they briefly showed stock. Went out of stock as soon as I ordered. Arrived yesterday with manufactured date of 2020/01. Really great device for the price.

They never were out of stock. Best buy had them all the time in store.
Yea. They were sold out on new year's everywhere and I went on Best buy's website and the delivered in less than a week. Don't know why everyone was hysterical over it. I got it with the same speed I order other shit from them.
Coronavirus is also impacting supplies I believe. I got one on bestbuy website last week when it was briefly available. I am a total believer of VR now even if it completely destroys my eyesight LOL.
Where? On oculus.com? I refresh every day, sometimes multiple times a day, and never see it.
I refreshed oculus.com all day yesterday and they came back in stock around 3 or 4 pm. They were still in stock when I checked yesterday evening but appear out of stock now.
Sorry, I guess I should have posted a new deal so peoples deal alerts would trigger :/
With the upcoming Alyx, we'll probably continue to see shortages. And looks like the Quest is out of stock again, less than a day. That was quick!
I own a Quest, I like it very much, but please don't buy one for Half Life Alyx/Quest Link, you'll be left disappointed. The Quest Link latency is high, control mapping bad, and the headset is still quite heavy over longer play sessions.
The Quest is great because it is a complete wireless VR games console. Which means the native Quest games are king. Quest Link is a free additional feature, but not a reason to buy the thing.
If your primary aim is Steam VR then buy a Rift S or PC VR competitor. Quest is fantastic, but it isn't that, it is something else awesome instead.

I also own a Quest. Agree on the discomfort of stock head strap. It's uncomfortable whether playing standalone or tethered to PC. I'm looking to FrankenQuest it (Google it).
Not sure I agree with you on the latency using Oculus Link. From all reviews I've seen, Oculus Link is a very viable solution to playing PC games on the Quest. Here is a review specifically for playing Alyx on the Quest via Oculus Link: https://youtu.be/T54aGkkXfuc. Discomfort aside, they noticed no latency, controllers work as well as on the Rift S, and only noticeable difference was some minor video compressions. They were surprised at how well the Quest played Alyx and thought it was very viable. Maybe there's some issue with your PC?

It is a 2070 Super with a Ryzen 7/NVMe SSD using the Oculus recommended Anker cable. If my computer isn't powerful enough to utilize Oculus Link without input latency, then 90% of the market will be even worse off. The reviews I've read match my review: The input latency over Link is high enough to be distracting/enjoyment impacting. A lot of early reviewers were just impressed it worked at all and that it was free, they weren't actually comparing it to native PC VR solutions like I am. If you look at PC VR users trying out Oculus Link, after the initial buzz, it is much more down to earth/realistic about the limitations.
For toying with, it is fine. For free it is amazing. But I'd never suggest someone buy a Quest with the expectation it will be your go-to PC VR solution, you'll be disappointed.

My link above shows them playing Alyx using 8 different VR headsets back-to-back, including Valve Index. They said no noticeable latency and a very viable way to play PC games on the Quest. That's very contradictory to what you are claiming.
