Hey guys,
Is anyone stocking up on "survival items" in fear of the Corona virus? So far I haven't, but I see a lot of the supermarkets empty from people like that here. Are the fears warranted, should I do the same?

Life Care center in Kirkland had 31 of 35 tests come back positive. There are still 20 tests that haven't come back yet. Wow.

Was the last administration trying to cover it up? That would be my guess.
I honestly didn't know that there were a 1000 H1N1 deaths before the public was alerted.
Edited to add:
On October 24, 2009, President Barack Obama declared Swine Flu a national emergency in the United States. On November 12, 2009, the CDC reported an estimated 22 million Americans had been infected with 2009 A H1N1 and 4,000 Americans have died.

My friend may have the virus. Will update.
That's an important note when people freak out thinking military will be in the streets. Declarations of emergency only really give the government leeway to do things it normally couldn't do, and also allows them to access federal funding in certain cases. This is the same when there's a natural disaster. It doesn't mean there will be Army in your town nailing your door shut.
Here in CT here is what it means:
Governor Declares Public Health Emergency Over Coronavirus [nbcconnecticut.com]
That opens a new range of possible measures that could be taken, including speeding up public health regulations.
The emergency declarations also trigger aspects of the state laws against price gouging.
The emergency allows Lamont to order travel bans and the closing of schools, as well as private businesses.
The declaration also gives the governor and the attorney general the power to crack down on scammers and those who are charging extremely high prices for things like face masks and hand sanitizer.
