Stocking up for Corona virus

Hey guys,
Is anyone stocking up on "survival items" in fear of the Corona virus? So far I haven't, but I see a lot of the supermarkets empty from people like that here. Are the fears warranted, should I do the same?

Go for a walk around the neighborhood. It'll do you a lotta good. Just don't shake anyone's hand while you're doing it!

you can boil gallons of tap water and drink that, and toilet tissue is still being mass produced, and stores will still be open during the outbreak.
I'd rather go by absolute numbers than percentages.
SARS only killed less than 1000 worldwide, last I checked.
the common flu kills way more than any other virus.
seasonal flu fatality 0.1% of 8% of the USA population that gets the flu each year (=24 million) is still greater than whatever the number is for covid right now.

At 2% mortality that would be 600,000 deaths.
And this crap seems to spread pretty easily, so 10% may be a very optimistic estimate.
re: Stocking up on water - no need, as the taps will keep running.
Toilet paper is not likely to be in short supply. People bought it up in Hong Kong, etc., but shelves were quickly restocked.

Haidee Janetzki meant to order 48 rolls of toilet paper, but instead ordered 48 boxes, Reuters reports. Now, she and her family are the proud owners of 2,304 rolls of toilet paper, which they have stacked up in their garage.

Lastly, the nature of the population infected matters. If it's otherwise healthy people less than say, 60 or so, the rate is ~ 0.4% (based on early Chinese data; likely lower than this). If you're in your 70's, 80's and have the usual comorbidities that people in those age groups have, you're getting into the teens %'s.

Life Care center in Kirkland had 31 of 35 tests come back positive. There are still 20 tests that haven't come back yet. Wow.
