It looks like AT&T may be starting a new promotion for the start of the month. I just went to my account to see what is offered since my 100mbps fiber plan is about up. Only 100mbps($45/mo) and 1000mbps($39.99/mo) is offered, no 300mbps is offered, but it was available a day ago for $40, and I saw an ad for it on TV today. If you have AT&T internet, check the plans offered in your account dashboard. There is no mention of equipment charges, but this is for a bundle. Southern states.

AT&T Internet 1000
Includes unlimited internet data$59.99
$20 off for 12 months with bundle-$20.00

Internet subtotal
$39.99

In my experience going from cable to fiber has been great.
Ping (latency) is superior and obviously speed is faster if you get for a better plan like gigabit.
The bottle neck will be your computer and your home network.
Chances are your computing products' network card/device and storage devices cannot handle gigabit.
Also wireless cannot reach gigabit and will decline with distance from your router/satellites.

Still nothing but xfinity over 25mbps in my neighborhood. It's totally shit. I pay $85 for 1Gig and then another $50 to avoid their stupid datacap (it's come up with a family of 6). Service is erratic, drops for a few minutes 3-4 times every day, which plays hell with my security system, Nest, etc. Upload speed is like 20mbps.

And then there's the total lack of service. Call them and the "cable guy" comes out who totally doesn't understand the service, wants to know where my cable box is, etc. Had one actually say their service doesn't work unless you have a TV hooked up, another blamed"static groundwater interference." On and on. I kept waiting to be invited to Medieval Times.

In Dallas I had ATT Gigafiber for $75 and never had a cap. Never had a second of downtime. Was rock-solid. I would switch right now and pay the cancellation penalty with a smile if it was available.

If you currently have AT&T Internet 1000 under an existing promo and can still get this price, please let me know.

I have been paying for Internet 1000 at a promo price of $70/month with a 1-year contract that doesn't end until this summer. When I try to change my plan, I only see the price of $100/month, which is the regular price (screenshot).

Thank you,
Tofu Vic

Partially correct. Not all fiber is synchronous. In the case of AT&T, they call it fiber, but it's only fiber to some point in your neighborhood, then the "extra mile" to your house is not.

Even for businesses, AT&T Fiber comes in two flavors -- Dedicated service (very expensive), and Cheap. The Cheap option is not the same up and down speeds. Nor is the home service.

That has been my experience since getting AT&T Small Business Fiber for a client in SoCal. Cheap, but not synchronous. Also, they filter, even for businesses, so things like mail servers do not work.

Of course, in my neighborhood, no AT&T Fiber. Gotta stick with greedy COX with their data caps.
Well my AT&T fiber - in a physical way - is fiber to my house.

I was under the same promo of paying $70 a month for the internet 1000. Called and talked with the Loyalty department and they got me under the 49.99 a month plan and she also waived the $10 monthly equipment fee. Not sure if this will work for everyone already under a plan but I didn't have much problem besides sitting on hold for 15 minutes.

I am in the same boat. My Internet 1000 promo is about to end. I am paying $90 a month after a $10 off promo for 12 months. My 12 months promo/agreement ends next month. I only $100 too to upgrade. Seems like a downgrade for me. laugh out loud

I am IL. Anyone in IL have the Internet 1000 now and seeing or able to get the same internet speed for less?

I spoke to a chat rep. Who confirmed because I have equipment already capable of doing 1gb - that I won't be charged the $10 fee. I saved the transcript in case they come back and try to charge me for it
Thank you for the info. I'll chat them up too to get some proof just in case.

EDIT: Went through chat, and I was able to confirm I would not pay for equipment. I had a promo on my account already, so I'll only be paying $39.99 for now.

Thank you very much for the response! I may give them a call later today to see how it goes.

Does anyone know if this would this extend your contract for another 12 months? My contract is about to expire so I wouldn't enjoy the faster speed for very long if it doesn't extend the pricing for another 12 months.

Went through the chat as well and was able to get the price for $49.99 for 12mos. Then the price will go to $70 after that. Thanks OP!

No luck in southern AL. I was already on the gigabit plan but figured I would check. I currently pay $60 a month:

AT&T Internet 1000 $80.00
$20 off for 12 months with bundle
