It looks like AT&T may be starting a new promotion for the start of the month. I just went to my account to see what is offered since my 100mbps fiber plan is about up. Only 100mbps($45/mo) and 1000mbps($39.99/mo) is offered, no 300mbps is offered, but it was available a day ago for $40, and I saw an ad for it on TV today. If you have AT&T internet, check the plans offered in your account dashboard. There is no mention of equipment charges, but this is for a bundle. Southern states.

AT&T Internet 1000
Includes unlimited internet data$59.99
$20 off for 12 months with bundle-$20.00

Internet subtotal
$39.99

AT&T install process is terrible. The first technician came last week but left since he needed a third party to run fiber across the street. I asked him for fiber cable, and I ran it from outside wall, through the crawlspace, and up into my closet, where modem, router, switch located. Today the third-party came but left with nothing done since they needed the city to lay mark for cable/pipe. Another technician also came today but left since fiber from across the street was not ready. He said the system showed him it is ready but guess not.

they said they will come back this Thur or Fri. The technician called before his arrival and asked if my family travel anywhere the last 2 weeks.
Hey foxnews! I have a hard time believing anything you wrote =)

Not true. I VPN all day for work with my AT&T fiber, no issues
just tried my work VPN and it works. I got about 37Mbps for AT&T fiber vs 5Mbps Spectrum cable.

Hey CNN, how is your rating so far? CNN and MSNBC combined got less total view than Fox.

Interesting. I have Spectrum's 100 Mbps plan, Google Wi-Fi, and Cisco AnyConnect VPN for work. If I sit with my work laptop by the main puck, I'll get 28 ms ping, 118.43 download, and 11.72 upload with speedtest.net when not connected, and 93 ms ping, 87.12 download, and 11.04 upload when connected.

Worked, got it for $49. No equipment fee, no installation fee. Supposedly getting $100 giftcard and $25 credit.

Same as marcoshid above - no equipment or install fee, supposedly getting $100 giftcard and $25 credit. Possibly $75 ca$hb@ck , if I'm lucky.
I'll still win on this, as my job will reimburse up to $300/year for internet access and my location has high speed with both AT&T and Xfinity. I've been on the Xfinity 25mbs for $19.99 for the last year, and will probably be switching back to them a year from now. I'll always be in promo pricing.

Spectrum policy is unfair and treats their customer so bad. I called in today to cancel their 200Mpbs for $70/month. They asked when I want to cancel, and I said right now. Then I asked if I owe anything. They said that my billing start at 3/24 (6 days ago), and I owe the whole month.

So they are ok with me cancelling anytime but I have to pay a whole month regardless. They even said that I can call back next month and cancel. What? spending another 30 min on the phone to cancel the service that I am no longer need? what? Specturm wins no matter what option I take. I felt powerless and treated badly after many years of being a customer.

Now that I have two options (cable and fiber without installation required), I can switch anytime easily. I will be in more control.

I paid Spectrum through 4/5/2020, but received a new bill for equipment not returned. A Holes... Yes I returned it on 3/16 to UPS store.

so you returned it over a month ago and they did not receive it and now charging you?
I owned my own modem so I don't need to return anything. whatever your situation is, Spectrum ends up winning and we are on the losing end.

It is ending March 31; however, AT&T just announced their $15 a month for 2GB plan what, yesterday? COVID-19 is going to get worse, the economy is going to get worse, and the companies are going to get more desperate for business. All opportunities to get cheap internet are not going to go away March 31.
Uhm, AT&T's deal got worse after 3/31. Dang... ;(

Partially correct. Not all fiber is synchronous. In the case of AT&T, they call it fiber, but it's only fiber to some point in your neighborhood, then the "extra mile" to your house is not.

Even for businesses, AT&T Fiber comes in two flavors -- Dedicated service (very expensive), and Cheap. The Cheap option is not the same up and down speeds. Nor is the home service.

That has been my experience since getting AT&T Small Business Fiber for a client in SoCal. Cheap, but not synchronous. Also, they filter, even for businesses, so things like mail servers do not work.

Of course, in my neighborhood, no AT&T Fiber. Gotta stick with greedy COX with their data caps.
It can vary how they install. I have a fiber coming straight inside my home.

Yeah, looks like it now has the $10 modem fee required.

Other than that, I think it is the same.

Does anyone know if it's possible to just buy your own fiber internet equipment instead?
Another difference is that internet had no caps, but it does now.
