It looks like AT&T may be starting a new promotion for the start of the month. I just went to my account to see what is offered since my 100mbps fiber plan is about up. Only 100mbps($45/mo) and 1000mbps($39.99/mo) is offered, no 300mbps is offered, but it was available a day ago for $40, and I saw an ad for it on TV today. If you have AT&T internet, check the plans offered in your account dashboard. There is no mention of equipment charges, but this is for a bundle. Southern states.

AT&T Internet 1000
Includes unlimited internet data$59.99
$20 off for 12 months with bundle-$20.00

Internet subtotal
$39.99

Absolutely. But try the speed test from the ATT gateway just to be sure it's not your router that's bottleneck.
Quote from pliepl :
try a different speed test server and see if that changes, some servers could be bogged down when you test but if you've tried them all in your area and you're still getting the same, then call.
Earlier I used https://www.speedtest.net/; now using http://speedtest.att.com/speedtest/ the result is better for upstream, 947 Mbps Smilie

That's more like it! Trust me once you get used to gig up/down you won't want to ever get rid of it. I was just able to get them to adjust it down to $50 a month from the original $70 I had. $50 a month is ridiculous. Hell comcast charges $30 on top of their plans just for unlimited!

Something is wrong with your upstream speed; I hit 970 down/900 up all the time
testing using AT&T router is not realistic. you have to test from your own devices that are going through AT&T router and your router and your own network.

I too consistently get over 970Mbps for upload/download using AT&T router speedtest but when testing from my PC that connects to my Asus router through Cat5E, I get 860Mbps mostly and sometime get 929Mbps (using speedtest desktop app). my iphone 7plus only get 260Mbps.

Agreed. I get those speeds on my equipment too, but if speed isn't good at the gateway you can forget about your equipment.

Showing $59.99 mo plus taxes and fees here in Sacramento. So after those, I'm pushing $68.00 . I don't need the speeds, just a $35. rate

Also, the Visa reward card is back up to $100 from $50. Maybe they'll come back with the No Equip Fee promotion.

Not sure if its a California thing, but if you only have internet, they don't charge taxes (at least here in FL) its flat rate.

We are heavily taxed here, including internet and cellular.

I just saw this deal so missed out on the $39/mo promo but was able to take advantage at the higher rate. I currently have 1gb fiber. I was able to downgrade online without a call/chat rep to the 300 mbps tier, checked back 5 minutes later and saw the 49/mo promo (with additional $10 equipment fee unfortunately) and upgraded. Took about 10 minutes total. Unlimited data. Bummed I missed the earlier deal but still saves me close to $400/year.

did you have unlimited data with your old plan? I thought 1bg plan always has unlimited data.

last month promo was $49. $39 is when you have TV bundle.

Yup, I had unlimited data previously. I believe they have had data capped 1gbs plans in the past. To clarify, I'm paying 59/mo due to equipment rental but still saving $30/mo for the same plan I had before so still pretty happy overall.

Great savings, but in your case calling may have helped you get rid of that equipment fee. You already have the gateway and line, so you should have some loyalty cred. if you've been with them awhile. Might want to consider calling the retention dept. and plead you case to get the fee waived or a $10 loyalty credit offset for the 12 months while they are figuring out your new bill, which takes a week or so.

This might help:

I just called their billing and mentioned that I saw a promotion. They couldn't give me the pricing since I am already at $70, down for $99.

How should I approach this now? Try again later? I don't want to downgrade and lose my $70 deal.

The $99 plan was a good while back, and $70 has been around for some time. Since you have been a customer for awhile, have your on fiber line and equipment, you should get a loyalty adjustment or just an adjustment that locks you in for 12 months. Check the wiki(post #2) for some successful post. A post just a few back did the down grade/up grade online, but got hit with the equipment fee. I'd keep trying and hope for a friendly rep. It may be that you are on a plan that hasn't expired. If so, others have had phone reps adjust them.
