Can we play intensive games like FarCry 5 by adding external cooling fan and egpu via thunderbolt?
Not ideal due to the low wattage CPU, but certainly possible

I'm so tempted to get a 17" and throw my 2080 into an eGPU case and selling my desktop off. But I just don't know if it's worth it.
I have the 2019 version of this laptop and use it with an eGPU case attached to two 4K monitors. Works great. I use the Akitio Node Pro for the eGPU with a 2080 Super

I wish the old gen models would go around 700-800 bucks so I can grab one 17' model

Yes in some locations. Was just in Costco in a NJ location and a whole display of these were up.

Never bought a square trade warranty. Worth it? Its usually on year 3 that the laptops start to crap out on me and I toss them because the local tech guys want $250 to fix something I don't understand so I always backup my data and just use the money to get something new. oddly enough, my phone's tend to last me 4 years and I abuse them, while I always baby my laptops and they still break. 😩😩😩

costco is great for warranty purpose. It comes automatically with 2 year free manufacturing warranty, 4 years free manufacturing if you pay with costco citi card. For additional $99 squaretrade, it covers additional break, spill, drops (even with user fault) for first 3 years. I buy it all the time. They tried to fix it first time, but was unsuccessful and finally give me back the full amount. Smilie

Do anyone know if the warranty is voided if I add more ram or ssd with square trade? They never know when i ask at the store so I figure, it does void it.

Yes SquareTrade is very worth it esp for $100 i believe that even covers water and spills on the laptop

If they cant fix it they will cut you a check for majority of what you paid

That being said people should be aware that while this laptop has some great pros it still has some issues that havent been addressed from previous models, the screen while much improved still has average brightness (300-350 nits) and the speakers are pitifully small (look up David Lee's review to see the inside of the laptop) and face downward so if you have hte laptop on your lap it will sound muffled

Who do you deal with for the entire 3 years if you have an accidental user fault issue? Any Costco warehouse or gotta call up squaretrade mob?

Seems to be $15 shipping. Maybe I'll try to find it in the store.

If you intend to try it I recall returning a laptop and getting the shipping back. I think...
