I was able to return my Gram 17 2019 model to Costco before my 90 days and purchased the 2020 model. My primary reason was the improved, wider keyboard with regular number pad. I found the 2019 a bit cramped (backspace in particular I'd miss) and the condensed number pad annoying even though I originally thought I would live with it. The improved processor and integrated graphics are a plus as well. I have been using the new model for a few days now and ran a few tests as well. Here are my comments:

The screen is the biggest selling point to me. I like the larger size, great color/contrast and brightness. The real-estate is great for photo editing. The glare does not bother me and the brightness has been more than plenty. It is a huge improvement over a Lenovo Flex 15 I tried out. I also had a Gigabyte Aero 15 OLED 4K laptop to compare to and the LG Gram 17 was my favorite. The OLED screen had an uneven brightness vertical band on the right side and I was always aware of possible burn in. Side by side, the colors and contrast were not noticeably different even though everyone raves about OLED screens being so superior. I much prefer the larger 17" and 16 x 10 ratio and not having to worry about possible burn in.
The chassis on the 2020 model does seem a little firmer than the 2019. They redesigned the monitor hinge and it seems sturdier.
The touchpad is the same. I really like it. Yes, it does depress a bit as some video reviewers point out, but it's not a big deal to me.
Battery life is excellent and I have not had any issues with drain while the computer sleeps. I often just close the screen in the evening, leaving it on battery only and when I return in the morning, the charge status has no significant change. I haven't written down the numbers, but I recall leaving it around 80% at night and coming back in the morning and it being near that.
I really like how quiet both generations Gram 17s CPU fans are. The Aero 15 was annoyingly loud, even at idle or low usage. The fans had a higher pitch that I could not stand.
Heat has not been an issue for me. It does get warm more so in the center, rear near the monitor since that is where the processor is. I use the laptop on my lap a lot and it is not uncomfortably warm.

Here are several test results I have:

Novabench:

2019

2020

You'll see improvements across the board for the i7-1065G7.

PugetBench v0.8 BETA for Photoshop

2019

2020

You will see that the i7-8565U actually performed some of the tasks better than the i7-1065G7.

In real world use, so far I have not noticed a significant difference in power between the two. I haven't tried games yet, possibly later. I tried some on the 2019 and it didn't work well as expected.

To conclude, I am very impressed with the LG Gram 17. This is my favorite laptop I have used.

I grabbed the last one at the local store for $1200 but I am thinking about spending 200 more and getting the Lenovo C940. The C940 has a 9750H cpu, an NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1650 4GB, touchscreen. The dowbside is screen size 15 inch, and only a 250 ssd. What do you guys think?
Most people get the LG Gram due to the weight. If you don't mind heavier laptop, Lenovo is a great alternative. LG Gram also have 15.6" 2.5 pounds touchscreen, w/numeric keypad for $1250 ... https://slickdeals.net/f/13948436-costco-lg-gram-15-6-touchscreen-laptop-10th-gen-intel-core-i7-1065g7-1080p-16gb-ram-512gb-ssd-2-5lbs-till-4-27-1249-99?t=13948436

If you need more powerful machine (cpu or gpu), then go for lenovo. If all you do is word, excel, web surf, light gaming, software development, on the go ... I'd recommend lg gram.

I was going to get this but the covid-19 hit us so I decided to save my money and I'm kind of glad I did now. Seems like a lot of people are having out of the box issues with this laptop.
I think you'll find the vast majority have no issues hence it selling out so quickly esp at the $1200 deal price Smilie bottom line is there is simply no other laptop out on the market at this screen size, specs and form factor / weight to compete with so if you appreciate it's portability and massive screen, it's a winner! If you happen to land with an unfortunately defective unit the costco warranty / returns is too easy even in this day and age!

I've come from a fanless albeit less powerful i5 surface pro so can defo hear the fan on the Gram when under load. It's coming from the back/top portion of the laptop under the keyboard. Interesting thing I've found is if I elevate the laptop with the back/top of the laptop higher than the bottom/front/palm rest enough the fan noise at that angle actually goes super quiet.

Conclusion unless there is a software setting to control fans anyone knows off use a laptop stand and elevate at the right angle to get rid of fan noise!

You need to run the batch file w.bat in order to flash the BIOS. But the issue, as I pointed out before, is that the BIOS mentioned is for the model number 17Z990-R.AAS9U1, whereas the Costco Gram 17 is 17Z90N-R.AAC8U1.

You can try turning Silent Mode on from LG Control Center > System Settings if the fan seems too noisy. My AC probably drowns out the fan, so I've turned that setting off.

Hah thanks for this tip, I tried it. Doesn't seem to make a difference to the fan speed or noise. Definitely the noise is coming out from the right side under the keyboard.

This matches what the Korean reviewers are saying on youtube; because of heat and throttling issues, the previous gen gram outperforms current 10th gen processor grams because the older models operate at a faster sustained speed. They basically conclude that it's better to buy the previous gen gram if you can still find it, especially if you can find a deal. Note that previous gen grams also have throttling and overheating issues but apparently it's worse now with the 10th gen/Iris graphics combo.

Interesting. Also here's another reviewer on youtube, who praises both the thermals ("a good performer") and the sustained CPU power under load. https://youtu.be/v5PEXWv--G8?t=94 , and it sounds like he is saying they are better than any previous gram. Not saying he's right but it's good to hear lots of these reviewers.
