I was able to return my Gram 17 2019 model to Costco before my 90 days and purchased the 2020 model. My primary reason was the improved, wider keyboard with regular number pad. I found the 2019 a bit cramped (backspace in particular I'd miss) and the condensed number pad annoying even though I originally thought I would live with it. The improved processor and integrated graphics are a plus as well. I have been using the new model for a few days now and ran a few tests as well. Here are my comments:

The screen is the biggest selling point to me. I like the larger size, great color/contrast and brightness. The real-estate is great for photo editing. The glare does not bother me and the brightness has been more than plenty. It is a huge improvement over a Lenovo Flex 15 I tried out. I also had a Gigabyte Aero 15 OLED 4K laptop to compare to and the LG Gram 17 was my favorite. The OLED screen had an uneven brightness vertical band on the right side and I was always aware of possible burn in. Side by side, the colors and contrast were not noticeably different even though everyone raves about OLED screens being so superior. I much prefer the larger 17" and 16 x 10 ratio and not having to worry about possible burn in.
The chassis on the 2020 model does seem a little firmer than the 2019. They redesigned the monitor hinge and it seems sturdier.
The touchpad is the same. I really like it. Yes, it does depress a bit as some video reviewers point out, but it's not a big deal to me.
Battery life is excellent and I have not had any issues with drain while the computer sleeps. I often just close the screen in the evening, leaving it on battery only and when I return in the morning, the charge status has no significant change. I haven't written down the numbers, but I recall leaving it around 80% at night and coming back in the morning and it being near that.
I really like how quiet both generations Gram 17s CPU fans are. The Aero 15 was annoyingly loud, even at idle or low usage. The fans had a higher pitch that I could not stand.
Heat has not been an issue for me. It does get warm more so in the center, rear near the monitor since that is where the processor is. I use the laptop on my lap a lot and it is not uncomfortably warm.

Here are several test results I have:

Novabench:

2019

2020

You'll see improvements across the board for the i7-1065G7.

PugetBench v0.8 BETA for Photoshop

2019

2020

You will see that the i7-8565U actually performed some of the tasks better than the i7-1065G7.

In real world use, so far I have not noticed a significant difference in power between the two. I haven't tried games yet, possibly later. I tried some on the 2019 and it didn't work well as expected.

To conclude, I am very impressed with the LG Gram 17. This is my favorite laptop I have used.

CalDigit TS3 Plus Dock works well for me, but I'm sure anything above 48.07Watt will change at normal speed. The adapter that comes with it is 19V 2.53A

I've found that a microfiber cloth wetted with screen cleaning fluid works much better than just the cloth alone. And a matte screen protector, like the ones carried by Photodon, really helps with the glare.

The gram seems to get scratched easily.
If the scratches are light, they can be buffed off easily with melamine foam (like Magic Eraser).

Oh really, have you tried that? It seems to get scratched lightly very easily.

I accidentally scratched the lid while installing the screen protector, and I managed to get the scratches off with a 1-inch square piece cut from one Magic Eraser sheet (an 8-pack at $3.14 was the cheapest option I found in store).
Wipe off any dust on the chassis before you start, or it will just lead to more scratches. Rub with the foam pad over the scratch in a circular motion applying light pressure. Eventually, the pad will start turning grey from the material it is removing, but the pad is a very, very fine grit so it is only removing a minuscule amount. The scratch will disappear once the surrounding material has been removed down to the depth of the scratch. I'd say mine took about 250-300 rubs.

Thanks I might try this if it gets worse.

Got the update last night. I have Silent Mode turned OFF, and I can still not hear the fan from more than 6 inches away.

I really want this laptop but why doesn't it have a touch screen? Seems so silly to be this expensive and not have a touchscreen!

I updated mine, fans seem to be more powerful now. But not all the time, only under load and weirdly enough after I put computer on standby / sleep mode, for a good 2-3mins or so even though screen and led light is already off. I have silent mode turned on to see if there is any difference.

Does anyone else have a problem where the bluetooth mouse keeps disconnecting? Mine keeps saying "driver error" but fixes when I turn bluetooth on and off again...
