At Washington Post web site look to the top right hand corner of the screen where you will find a small banner ad for $29 annual subscription for the first year. The second year would be $100 but you can cancel your subscription before the first year ends. Alternatively, you can click on the link below which takes you directly to the deal.

At $29 for a quality newspaper it is quite a deal. I had previously seen it as low as $40 but never $29.

Note that I got errors when trying to pay with a credit card but was successful when using PayPal.

FWIW, last year it was $25 for World Press Freedom Day / World Press Day (May 3). I'm holding out that it will happen again this year. The opinions page is a cesspool of political hacks trying to spin their party (on both sides), but the science, world news, and local (I'm a former/DC native) sections are great.

I'm late to the party here, but was just in the process of cancelling my account ($40 rate). They wouldn't budge in the chat to repeat that rate, so I cancelled (still a few days left). Does this rate apply if I try to re-sub after mine expires?

I ended up asking in the chat after they canceled and pointed out that 29 dollar deal. They said I could do it but "it was only good for a year". Duh. So I got another year for 11 bucks less than I was paying for the previous year!

It's back again now.

Independent here after seeing the reality of our governance straight from the horse's mouth last night. Came here to post the deal (and NYT one) but glad to see them already here. Need to support solid journalism that calls out authoritarianism.

Agree 200%. I subscribe to NYT and WaPo and would miss them if I couldn't get the lower rate.

I would rather light $30 on fire than pay for that rag
