Looks like pretty good deals if you're specifically looking for this saw. I'm looking for a new miter saw, but want a sliding one. I also would rather see a better price reduction or a mobile stand with wheels because those folding stands suck to lug around separately

What is your use that you want the slider for? I've been on the fence for a while, I would want a slider if I had a permanent bench for it. After working with 2x12x12s a bit last year I decided I'd rather move a circular saw with a 90 guide than move the boards on a miter saw. I'm not sure, but between a 10" slider and a 12" non-slider I'm betting that the 12" non-slider will be more accurate for trim corners.

I wish there were deals for the DWS716XPS version with blade shadow light. I know you can add it on yourself with third party parts for about $80 but the XPS version is normally only $25 more.

There are several YouTube videos and tutorials on how to DIY your own shadowline for much less (~$20).

Wow, I never thought to look on youtube. Found a video [youtube.com] and the part only cost $10 from Amazon. Going to do this to my saw this weekend. Thanks for the tip!

I was using circular saw to cut 1x10 boards but after trying a slider in other's shop I found it rather smooth and a lot easier to do.

Due to my limited space, I got a 10inch non-slider and used it to cut the 1x10 boards soon realized flipping the boards can't be done very perfectly Frown

I have the 10" saw and it's very nice, I'm just a DIY but it cuts straight and I often check this against a speed square. I was able to make some simple dice trays for gaming night. But the 10" capacity is very small and it doesn't allow you to cut beyond a 4"x4" IIRC. If I could buy it again, I would opt for the 12" unless you know you're only doing smaller jobs. Comparing side by side, the 10" doesn't seem like that much of space savings either.

Another note, the 10" is made in Taiwan while others in the same price range are China.

Solid deal. I purchased this stand separately a few years ago. I ran into issues with the frail plastic clip that holds the saw to the stand. When I did some research, I saw this issue was pretty widespread. Replacement part was ~$40 iirc. I still love the stand but want to set expectations that this part may give you issues within a year of regular use.

I'm going to be replacing my carpet with vinyl plank as well as replacing the existing baseboards with taller ones. Would the 10 incher be adequate for the baseboards?

You shouldn't cut vinyl plank with a miter saw unless you really know what you are doing and you should tape it up. Spacing is key and depends upon the plank substrate. Mostly score and cut. They have plank cutters you can just rent from your big box store. Minimally you would have to get a different blade.

As for baseboards depends on the height. I think the 10" can do 4.5 inch or so. Again you could rent it or rip it with a regular saw but more difficult if it has bevel. For baseboards not super critical cutting, so a rental from HD or Lowes would do the job.
