For anyone still on the DVR or TiVo bandwagon ...

As part of their March Mania sale, the Tivo Bolt OTA is $149.99 and the All-in Plan is $99.99 making it $250 total. Note that OTA = antenna only so if you're a cord cutter, this is a great deal for this DVR.

Bolt Vox 500GB + All-in is $350
Box Vox 1000GB + All-in is $450
TiVo Mini VOX + TiVo WiFi 5 Adapter Wireless Multi-Room Bundle for $149.98

Yes, I remember when my installer told me the same thing 10 years ago. I didn't believe him then, and I don't believe your installer now.

Great solution for cord cutting if you have the ability to receive local broadcasts. I purchased the older Tivo Roamio OTA from a Slickdeals post and absolutely love it. The multiple tuners are great for Friday nights when my wife is recording 48 hrs, Dateline, and I am trying to watch something else, all simultaneously.

Anyone know if you can convert a non OTA to use OTA only and cancel cable?

yep: https://www.tivo.com/quick-links/...tenna-user though, you'd still need to have tivo service (either lifetime or monthly/yearly/etc)

I love my TiVo OTA, but I absolutely cannot understand why their app selection is so bad. It's the #1 reason I won't upgrade and will probably abandon the TiVo ecosystem when mine dies.

Wish they would put their PRO line on sale, all they ever do is have sale's for the entry-level devices...

Yes, depending on the model. Some models have both OTA & cable tuners, and you can use either (but not both at the same time.)

I have a Roamio, canceled cable and just use it for OTA now.

Here is the list of models and their tuners.

Yeah, probably shouldn't spread that sort of info without a reliable source...
