the 2020 model (UN55TU8000FXZA) with built in Alexa is about the same price on Amazon....
If possible, get a Quantum Dot display or QLED though. Entry level vs a decent OLED competitor, basically. It's $693ish on Amazon.
Realistically, both a fine TVs. I enjoy the quantum dot displays for the extra price though. If you're really looking for something great, spend $2500 on the 8K panels.. It's not much more and the pictures are fantastic, upscale well, and again are just so good looking.

That TV is the equivalent of the RU7100 from last year, and only has a 60hz panel. Samsung pushed all their models down one level for 2020. The RU8000 is 120hz native and has a wide color gamut. Oh, and this TV has a 3 year warranty through Costco.
RU7100 = TU8000
RU8000 = Q60T (without a 120hz panel, but the Q60T has quantum dot color vs a standard wide color gamut in the RU8000)
Q60R = Q70T
Q70R = Q80T
Q80R= Q90T
Yeah, editing out the context does makes it seem silly, no?

If you're looking for something great, 8k panels are where it's at. Considering intro 4K panels were like $20-60,000 or more, an 8k panel at $2500 is a good deal. Again, context matters. Don't edit out the context. I'd suggested the QLED panel for $693 for a direct competitor. That's within reason for a better image and more premium tv.

this is slickdeals and someone posted about a $500 TV.
the QLED suggestion was fine since it is $193 more. The $2500 suggestion was just ludicrous to suggest in this thread. Why would somone come to a thread with a $500 pricetag, and read your comment and think ohhh yeah ok, Ill buy a $2500 tv instead cos it looks much better.
Same as going to a thread that says a honda civic is on sale for $10K and me suggesting "if you're looking for something great, Ferraris are where its at - get one for $200K"...

My apologies, I did not know that. Thank you for posting, Ill update my post.

$2500 vs $500 not much more ?
My elderly dad bought some Roku pile of junk from Sam's a couple years ago. I've been looking for something to get him to replace it. Hmmm...

No worries, Samsung just downgraded their specs. Technically, that is the replacement to the RU8000, its just inferior spec-wise.

That's some BS from Samsung! Thanks.
