Glad I did. $300 is better than $100 and I can still port out in a few months. No contracts on the Kickstarter plan. They automatically waived the activation fee by doing it online as well, but after looking at my confirmation email it says there will be a one-time credit of $30 within 3 invoices however that plays out. My first bill will be charged 30 days from today.
I was concerned with the Amazon reviews saying they were sent 4 of the same SIMs, but it worked flawlessly. Over chat the rep told me which one to use. I also asked if I could double down on both the $300 and $100 Amazon SIM promotion, but was a no go. Worth a shot anyway.

Here's the Sprint page (https://www.sprint.com/en/landings/covid-19.html) that says:

If you don't have a sim card for your byod and you place the sim card order when you open the account......does the port in process start then or once you receive the sim card and activate the phone with it?
Thank you
1) Using ZTE Max XL running Android 7.1.1. If VPN is enabled on the mobile device, the connected device (laptop) doesn't get internet access. It connects to the hotspot, but no internet
2) Using Moto E6 running Android 9, if VPN is enabled, the connected device gets internet access. It is using a different APN it seems. The ip address the laptop is assigned is Sprint ip address. In this case also, hotspot usage is tracked based on usage info in the sprint acct.
So it seems use of VPN on the mobile device is unable to mask hotspot usage. People were discussing masking TTL (time to live) with VPN usage that may mask hotspot usage. Just wanted to share this as I had read about this a few weeks back here on SD in one of the threads.
As far as the costs vs rewards:
- Pre-owned phone $55 shipped + 4 months of service x $41 (with tax & fees in my case) = $219
- Rewards: $300 GC + $80 cash back + $50 if you use a referral = $430
You decide if it's worth your effort.

Don't wanna make my phone locked to sprint
thx
I did not have to contact Sprint to get them reunlocked or anything.
Port ur numbers to vz and get $250 rebate on each number and raku 10 gives $75 cash back on each line. You can stay for free for 7-8months. Best offer if you port 5 numbers and use that CB side and port all numbers in one transaction.
$1250 rebate and $375 CB.
Money maker deal.
You have to stay min 6months or 185days or else they will take rebate $1250 back.
My free BYOD is about to expire and I didn't care about the numbers. I ported numbers from Google Voice.
