Sprint WILL RELOCK your unlocked device as they did to mine. Not a single incident as friends and family of mine got their RELOCKED to the sprint network. We all had unlocked devices when signed up. Now all our phones are locked to Sprint. Thats illegal.
You have to stay for 90 days to keep the $300 and their unlock policy is 60 days, so while I agree they should not be re-locking phones, you can get it re-unlocked after 60 days and before your 90 day requirement is fulfilled.
Thanks! Ordered the BYOD Amazon SIM on Monday and was sitting on whether to switch my Iphone over. I felt a little dirty about going back to Sprint. I left them 4 years ago (after 18 years as a customer) and said I'd never go back.

Glad I did. $300 is better than $100 and I can still port out in a few months. No contracts on the Kickstarter plan. They automatically waived the activation fee by doing it online as well, but after looking at my confirmation email it says there will be a one-time credit of $30 within 3 invoices however that plays out. My first bill will be charged 30 days from today.

I was concerned with the Amazon reviews saying they were sent 4 of the same SIMs, but it worked flawlessly. Over chat the rep told me which one to use. I also asked if I could double down on both the $300 and $100 Amazon SIM promotion, but was a no go. Worth a shot anyway.

I see it listed but I'm not sure because it mentions "full SRP" which means the rebate only works on new phones?
The Iphone X preowned is listed as full price $299. When in the cart it actually says Full SRP $299 so you are good. The $300 mastercard offer is also listed with the iphone X preowned and a plan.

The Sprint employee who replied on Reddit said because there are a lot of accounts - that's why some don't see HotSpot working on their phones right away.

Here's the Sprint page (https://www.sprint.com/en/landings/covid-19.html) that says:

We're supporting customers by:
  • Providing Unlimited data for 60 days to customers with metered data plans (effective 3/18)
  • Giving 20 GB of free mobile hotspot to customers with hotspot-capable devices (effective 3/18)
  • Waiving per-minute toll charges for international long-distance calls from the U.S. to CDC- defined Level 3 countries (effective 3/17))
Thanks for the info. It's like seling plane tickets when there are no seats available.

When you open an account and port in a number....how long does Sprint take to complete the port in?
If you don't have a sim card for your byod and you place the sim card order when you open the account......does the port in process start then or once you receive the sim card and activate the phone with it?
Thank you

Some observations regarding masking Hotspot usage with the use of VPN.

1) Using ZTE Max XL running Android 7.1.1. If VPN is enabled on the mobile device, the connected device (laptop) doesn't get internet access. It connects to the hotspot, but no internet

2) Using Moto E6 running Android 9, if VPN is enabled, the connected device gets internet access. It is using a different APN it seems. The ip address the laptop is assigned is Sprint ip address. In this case also, hotspot usage is tracked based on usage info in the sprint acct.

So it seems use of VPN on the mobile device is unable to mask hotspot usage. People were discussing masking TTL (time to live) with VPN usage that may mask hotspot usage. Just wanted to share this as I had read about this a few weeks back here on SD in one of the threads.

If you just want to buy a phone to do the deal, there are phones that don't cost much, like the Sprint LG Stylo 4+ for $79.99 on HSN (get $10 off if you're a new customer), or buy a pre-owned LG Tribute Empire on Sprint web site for $55 shipped.

As far as the costs vs rewards:
- Pre-owned phone $55 shipped + 4 months of service x $41 (with tax & fees in my case) = $219
- Rewards: $300 GC + $80 cash back + $50 if you use a referral = $430

You decide if it's worth your effort.
wait this is news to me, whered the 80 cash back come from, and i didnt know about the referral

Hope someone kind enough to answer my question? Currently with Sprint free BYOD expiring end of April. What is the best carrier I could port out and then back into Sprint for this promo? I have 4 lines currently with Sprint , can have basic unlimited or KS. Can use family member SSN to go back to Sprint if needed? In the past , I used Tmobile prepaid to do this and heard this now costs much more than before. Please let me know the best choice. Thanks and Tia.

some post said once activate sprint plan, Sprint will lock your phone (original unlocked phone).

anyone can confirm that?

Don't wanna make my phone locked to sprint

thx
Just in the past week I got the free unlocked Moto E6 at Best Buy with Sprint activation. A week later I used it on Mint Mobile. This weekend I transferred out a factory unlocked Note 10+ from our soon to expire free Sprint plan and it is now being used on Mint mobile.

I did not have to contact Sprint to get them reunlocked or anything.

Why not try vz rebate offer.
Port ur numbers to vz and get $250 rebate on each number and raku 10 gives $75 cash back on each line. You can stay for free for 7-8months. Best offer if you port 5 numbers and use that CB side and port all numbers in one transaction.
$1250 rebate and $375 CB.
Money maker deal.
You have to stay min 6months or 185days or else they will take rebate $1250 back.

Unlimited Plus is the same price as Unlimited Basic and you get hotspot. I just signed up for it, $100 for 5 lines.

My free BYOD is about to expire and I didn't care about the numbers. I ported numbers from Google Voice.

Terrible experience with trying to port my number to sprint. Quick summary, cancelled as they still a week later have not sent me a SIM card foo Okta phone service nor the gift card. They locked my unlocked iPhone X to their network and when I cancelled told me it would not be unlocked by them for one month because my phone is active on there network without a SIM card or service!! Avoid!!!

You think they are going to give you free hardware or rebates so you can leave in 30 days? People are 😄 funny. Stay away from Sprint and read the fine print next time.
