Sprint WILL RELOCK your unlocked device as they did to mine. Not a single incident as friends and family of mine got their RELOCKED to the sprint network. We all had unlocked devices when signed up. Now all our phones are locked to Sprint. Thats illegal.
You have to stay for 90 days to keep the $300 and their unlock policy is 60 days, so while I agree they should not be re-locking phones, you can get it re-unlocked after 60 days and before your 90 day requirement is fulfilled.
Thanks! Ordered the BYOD Amazon SIM on Monday and was sitting on whether to switch my Iphone over. I felt a little dirty about going back to Sprint. I left them 4 years ago (after 18 years as a customer) and said I'd never go back.

Glad I did. $300 is better than $100 and I can still port out in a few months. No contracts on the Kickstarter plan. They automatically waived the activation fee by doing it online as well, but after looking at my confirmation email it says there will be a one-time credit of $30 within 3 invoices however that plays out. My first bill will be charged 30 days from today.

I was concerned with the Amazon reviews saying they were sent 4 of the same SIMs, but it worked flawlessly. Over chat the rep told me which one to use. I also asked if I could double down on both the $300 and $100 Amazon SIM promotion, but was a no go. Worth a shot anyway.

Does anyone know the process details for porting a Google voice number? I was wondering what you're supposed to use for the account number and pin. Can a GV number be ported using the online system versus a live rep? Thanks.

My observation regarding whether Sprint will (re)lock the Sprint branded device that was previously unlocked.

The devices I have on my acct

ZTE Max XL N9560 (Sprint branded, prevously unlocked)

Samsung Galaxy J7 Perx (Sprint branded, previously unlocked)

Apple iPhone 7 (previously unlocked)

Moto E6 (unlocked)

ZTEs were locked again..after I added them to my acct. I called Sprint and complained about this and they instantly unlocked them.

Samsung Galaxy J7 Perx was not locked. iPhone 7 was not locked. Moto E6 can't be locked so was not locked.

I am not sure if this is a device specific issue rather than broad brush where Sprint relocks the device that was previously unlocked.

Even if they lock it, you can call them and have it unlocked right away. No need for 50 day non-sense since it was already unlocked and already paid for.

The carrier branded S10 should be compatible because it got Auto switching software about 6 months after release but sprint has not added them. Why, I do not know.
Also that list is somewhat outdated since newer devices example iPhone 11, pixel 4 missing. The S8,9.were originally limited to only unlocked models but carrier branded models were added once auto switching firmware(Samsung calls it BYOD software) was released.

account number is phone number, pin is voicemail pin. Make sure you unlock, it's only $3.

yes, it can be ported online, but it takes longer. at least a day. I'm not sure why. If you're doing multiple lines, checkout doesn't give you option to enter account info/pin. you'll have to call it in or give to chat csr.

I have see this checkout page after I enter my IMEI and click the link "BUY NEW SIM" on the next page. Am I going to get a physical sim card for $0 from Sprint after I finish the checkout process? Will I be without service for a few days until the new sim card arrived from Sprint? Look like I need to port my number immediately at the checkout process.

The porting process won't start until you have the SIM on-hand, even if you provided the port in acct # & PIN ahead of time. I've ported in two lines. Line 1 uses a Visible unlocked Moto E6 and a BYOP SIM, I had to enter the SIM number. Line 2 uses a pre-owned LG Tribute that I ordered from Sprint. I entered its IMEI and they know its SIM number.

All US carrier branded S10's should be compatible with Sprint. The Samsung BYOD firmware(changes to corresponding carrier software when carrier sim inserted) was released in September 2019. But for some reason the imei's seem not to have been added to whitelist.

A couple months ago i bought a used verizon S10e. Imei checked fine and swapped in without a problem. My wife currently has a used unlocked(SM-g970U1)S10e on the verizon network. IMEI checks fine on sprint and shows:

Samsung Galaxy S10e SE Open Market

As a sidenote: I believe verizon branded phones are not locked. Unless things have changed.

NM, google says: Beginning on 7/23/2019, devices purchased from Verizon are locked for 60 days from the date of purchase. After 60 days, we will automatically remove the lock. Following the 60 day lock period, we do not lock our phones at any time.

I wish all carriers would adopt Verizon's policy. It would make this much easier!

How does one know if your samsung phone is an unlocked or branded model? Go here [imeipro.info] for the hardware version and then go here [techwalls.com] to find the carrier. Use the search box for other samsung phones

Do you need to have the phone with you to port? or just sim?

I think their network needs to communicate with the SIM to activate it and complete the port. Without a phone, that can't be done. At least that was my experience with porting in two lines.

I borrowed my brothers phone (IMEI), so I don't have the phone with me, SIM came in and I completed the activated process. I think I went to the check-port-status page. then completed everything there.

From Sprint's perspective, the phone is activated even though I didn't put the SIM in.

as long as you have the IMEI & ICCID (if new to sprint), then you should be able to 'activate'

Thanks, Yeah all the carrier branded S10/e/+ should have been added once BYOD firmware was released(about Sept 2019). Not sure why some are getting incompatible message. They could probably contact Sprint to fix, but not always easy to find help with that. The unlocked unbranded versions are compatible from release date of phone.

yes but since we will be on Sprint longer than 50 days, I never mention this.

Not sure how one of your Sprint branded phones didnt get locked. Every unlocked Sprint phone I've ever activated on Sprint has been relocked. Maybe something has changed, I'll find out soon.
