Glad I did. $300 is better than $100 and I can still port out in a few months. No contracts on the Kickstarter plan. They automatically waived the activation fee by doing it online as well, but after looking at my confirmation email it says there will be a one-time credit of $30 within 3 invoices however that plays out. My first bill will be charged 30 days from today.
I was concerned with the Amazon reviews saying they were sent 4 of the same SIMs, but it worked flawlessly. Over chat the rep told me which one to use. I also asked if I could double down on both the $300 and $100 Amazon SIM promotion, but was a no go. Worth a shot anyway.

I agree with the post about "start with BYOD IMEI checker" since that allowed me to do a second activation that will take effect tomorrow when I get the next SIM kit. If IMEI is good I get prompted about whether I need a SIM or brought my own SIM - I chose different options each time - both worked.
Search the website in "accessories" section if you want to order SIM kit independent of all the steps outlined to get all the perks/goodies - but I think if you follow the BYOD steps and start with IMEI checker you will be fine.
