Glad I did. $300 is better than $100 and I can still port out in a few months. No contracts on the Kickstarter plan. They automatically waived the activation fee by doing it online as well, but after looking at my confirmation email it says there will be a one-time credit of $30 within 3 invoices however that plays out. My first bill will be charged 30 days from today.
I was concerned with the Amazon reviews saying they were sent 4 of the same SIMs, but it worked flawlessly. Over chat the rep told me which one to use. I also asked if I could double down on both the $300 and $100 Amazon SIM promotion, but was a no go. Worth a shot anyway.

Google Voice # work . right?
Are these the steps in sequence(?):
-Port primary number from MINT to GV ($20 ouch).
-Ignore MINT for the Sprint port-in. Buy ebay ATT number and port in G7 phone to Sprint.
-Allow MINT 3-month prepaid to expire on April 29th. Asta la vista MINT.
-Set up GV to somehow forward both calls & txts from my primary number to the new number on Sprint."
How long does it take GV to complete the port in? Is it instantaneous or do any of these steps require days?
Curious: is there a routine way to request a new phone number from MINT, so I can port out my primary number now on MINT to GV ... while retaining my phone service with MINT albeit with a new number assigned by MINT? Or is this a fantasy? (it would theoretically save me the step of purchasing an ebay ATT number?).
GV service is new to me...I recall reading something months ago that there's a limit on phone numbers used with GV, something about not being able to port a number in >out>and back in again? Or was it restriction on porting a number in/out of more than one email account? Or once a number is ported out you lose the phone number ...or something like that?
FYI, I bought 5 phones the day before yesterday and the phones are on the way to be delivered by Monday. I googled that there were some scam going on with scammer asking information from people. Did this happen to anyone here? Do you think I have reason to suspect this? If so, just remind people here to be alerted. Any comment?

Does everyone agree these steps are the optimal way to proceed?

When you port, I believe your Mint account will close. If you ask for a new phone number instead of porting, you will lose your old one.

Call back one of these two verified Sprint porting numbers 866-437-1818 or 877-503-3269 and find out if they might have called.

It's not unusual for the Sprint rep to have a foreign accent. Sprint has a large call-center in Manila, and the sales rep that I talked to last week was working there. I'd ask the caller to authenticate himself by giving you your order number, which you can check against the order confirmation email that you received. You should not have to authenticate yourself with your SSN because he called you, not the other way around.

Nothing wrong, I got same phone call the next morning. And the lady helped me finished the porting. Saved me time to call them..
They are not asking your ssn for sprint acct.. They are asking ssn for the old carrier porting info as they assume its always required if u r porting from postpaid carrier... Typically they ask acct no, pin, ssn, name and address..
Its not scam..simple it is.. Just tell them u r porting from prepaid carrier so ssn can be skipped.
They can port you in advance of receiving your phones, because they already know what IMEI and SIM numbers are for those phones.
When you talk to them also ask for your account number, which they can tell you. This will allow you to get headstart on filling rebate.
