Sprint WILL RELOCK your unlocked device as they did to mine. Not a single incident as friends and family of mine got their RELOCKED to the sprint network. We all had unlocked devices when signed up. Now all our phones are locked to Sprint. Thats illegal.
You have to stay for 90 days to keep the $300 and their unlock policy is 60 days, so while I agree they should not be re-locking phones, you can get it re-unlocked after 60 days and before your 90 day requirement is fulfilled.
Thanks! Ordered the BYOD Amazon SIM on Monday and was sitting on whether to switch my Iphone over. I felt a little dirty about going back to Sprint. I left them 4 years ago (after 18 years as a customer) and said I'd never go back.

Glad I did. $300 is better than $100 and I can still port out in a few months. No contracts on the Kickstarter plan. They automatically waived the activation fee by doing it online as well, but after looking at my confirmation email it says there will be a one-time credit of $30 within 3 invoices however that plays out. My first bill will be charged 30 days from today.

I was concerned with the Amazon reviews saying they were sent 4 of the same SIMs, but it worked flawlessly. Over chat the rep told me which one to use. I also asked if I could double down on both the $300 and $100 Amazon SIM promotion, but was a no go. Worth a shot anyway.

I was porting a line but during the process, I realized that Sprint did not ask me for a SIM card neither they will send me a sim card, does this means that sprint will use the sim card from my previous carrier to have their services ported?

Not sure what your question is. People use the GV number and forward it to the mobile. The problem with this is your outgoing call from the native number will be different so you'd have to use the GV dialer (VoIP).

The problem I've experience with this (forwarding) is that there is a lag before the number forwarded to rings...long enough that a lot of people hang up. But do people still make voice calls? LMAO
are you on android or iPhone?

on Android, I can use native dialer and I get prompted if I want to use carrier number. That's because I have the option to prompt me. It is possible with Androids for no prompt.

they should. When I test an old Galaxy S5 in the checker, Sprint already has the correct sim number listed.

Corect, if the phone was on Sprint before, it is in their system and defaults to the old SIM.

No I was talking about the other way, if using the phone's native dialer, it will show the mobile number not the GV number. So if someone was depending on the GV number they would have to use Hangouts or GV dialer.

I think you mean using GV dialer, they can select to display the mobile number right? I think I recall having that feature in the GV dialer, but I only use Hangouts now and rarely make voice calls anyway. Don't think Hangouts have that feature.

No, I use the native dialer, and it prompts me what I want the caller id to use.

That's interesting. What phone and Android version do you use?

Any android works. But beware some short code might not go to your Google voice. Such as bank security code, etc.. thats the main reason I stop using gv and port my main number back with the carrier.

No the previous carrier(if non sprint) sim will not work. if you don't have a sprint sim you will need to get one. For Sprint phones previously activated on Sprint the sim number will prepopulate but if you don't have that original sim (or another compatible sprint sim) you will need another one.

Any problem doing it this way?

I was with Sprint, on free year from Oct 2018 to Oct 2019 and just paid full price until Feb when we ported out 2 lines to Mint. Service was awful, so we went to Cricket/ATT but don't good coverage either. So we are switching back to Sprint either way for our 2 lines, 45 days is today.

So if we get mastercards for our two numbers, great, but I'm not assuming we will get it. So I want to try to get some $300 cards. Want to keep the $35/month plans.

Can we buy 2 of the $49 LG phones (Tribute i think?) on Sprint for overnight delivery on Tuesday, buy 2 cheap $10 phones from Target on Tracfone and do $20 plan, on which Target is offering a $30 Target card for activation. So net cost $0, and port those new numbers over to the 2 LG phones on Tuesday

Cost- $100 for the 2 Sprint phones, and $70x3 for 3-months of service on them = $310 to get $600 in gift cards in 3 months. That way if we get 4 $300 mastercards great, but if not we still get $600.

Do I need to have the phone number/account number/port info at the time I place my order on sprint tomorrow? If I do then I will go to Target first thing in the morning? Kinda wondering if it's worth all the time and trouble to hope to net a few hundred extra months away, and just consider myself lucky if our original phone numbers previously on sprint get the giftcards.

That is a problem for me because I used an ebay ported number and I was expecting that I will buy a sim card but I never had the option until the confirmation email shows a sim card. Does this mean that the sim card in the phone (whatever it is) will be overritten? Or the Sim card that correspond to the phone from the port in number I received from ebay will be overritten. Sorry if these are silly questions, but I am kind of lost.

S8 & S9, even with S7, thats how Ive always used it. There should be an option in GV how the native dialer behaves.

Attached is the prompt from native dialer and the option to select when using native app.

the sim card on the phone is what Sprint knows (the last time it was on Sprint)

I completed one KS transfer, without any issues. I thought about doing a 2nd, using a Visible number that is not active. My 1st port was from Mint, which was originally from Visible. I received a sorry to see you go message from Visible, even though the line have not been with them for almost a month.

Logging into the account showed the number, but that payment was due today. I chatted with Visible, to get the account number, and PIN, but was told the account would not transfer if the account was not active.

I was wondering if others have successfully completed a port, with a Visible number out of service for several weeks.

Thanks
I will find out next week. My visible payment was due early march so i'm attempting to port that number after a month. I have read someone in the thread was able to port out after the payment was due. Although i recall it was maybe few days.

Ya thats what I thought... the GV dialer. I haven't used that in years, been using Hangouts which doesn't have that feature. But I don't ever use my mobile number so it didn't matter.
