Sprint WILL RELOCK your unlocked device as they did to mine. Not a single incident as friends and family of mine got their RELOCKED to the sprint network. We all had unlocked devices when signed up. Now all our phones are locked to Sprint. Thats illegal.
You have to stay for 90 days to keep the $300 and their unlock policy is 60 days, so while I agree they should not be re-locking phones, you can get it re-unlocked after 60 days and before your 90 day requirement is fulfilled.
Thanks! Ordered the BYOD Amazon SIM on Monday and was sitting on whether to switch my Iphone over. I felt a little dirty about going back to Sprint. I left them 4 years ago (after 18 years as a customer) and said I'd never go back.

Glad I did. $300 is better than $100 and I can still port out in a few months. No contracts on the Kickstarter plan. They automatically waived the activation fee by doing it online as well, but after looking at my confirmation email it says there will be a one-time credit of $30 within 3 invoices however that plays out. My first bill will be charged 30 days from today.

I was concerned with the Amazon reviews saying they were sent 4 of the same SIMs, but it worked flawlessly. Over chat the rep told me which one to use. I also asked if I could double down on both the $300 and $100 Amazon SIM promotion, but was a no go. Worth a shot anyway.

Please do NOT use the hotspot to replace home internet. Enough people do it, hotspots will be gone very quickly.

Yes Sprint is a hassle to deal with.

if your phone supports VoLTE then you can make calls and use data. But you need good coverage.

argh...screw it. I am not seeing the $300 mastercard promo under summary when I check out but Customer service assured me that I qualify. So i can port from mint mobile (tmobile mvno) to sprint correct? even after merger? I assume they still have a lot to work out. All the problems I encountered and the uncertainty makes me feel like I should just continue on a 6($150 total) or 12 month($240) 8 gb plan on MINT mobile. I almost don't care about saving that $150-$240 after all the trouble.

Pro:
1) sprint is unlimited even though I won't use 8gb unless I am streaming musc/video a lot. BUT i love the freedom to do so without worrying about data.
2) I am free from sprint in 4 months after receiving mastercard.

con:
1) We still can't call and access data together on sprint right?

Edit: sprint has VoLTE for iphone 11 now?

Make sure you get a chat script that you will still get the $300 and have them note it on your account. I would do that at least a few times.

VoLTE coverage is depending on the location.

btw what info did they ask you to set up an account without any lines? is it a no credit check account? I'm thinking going that route.

Here's my data point. I purchased Pixel 3XL with a new account and one line. Its esim came pre-activated with Sprint. I inserted Lyca mobile physical sim (T-mobile MVNO). It was a no-go and asked me to contact my carrier to unlock the phone first.
ohh ok ty for the info

It was a credit check account (no way to prevent pull...). how long was everyone saying that the $300 promo to show that is registered? sprint has that 14 day no hassle cancellation. I wonder if I can do that if I see that I am having trouble getting the $300 registered to my account. I guess $35/month is not bad but mint mobile is still cheaper and both perform about the same where I am located. Sprint is a little better when I travel to another location I frequent.

Why do we keep preaching this? DO you know your google voice #, or ebay ATT # wasn't ever switched over to Sprint in the last 20+ years at some point, and then back, or similar. . .Sprint MVNO's included, etc. etc etc. Google didn't even have #'s 20 years ago, and most are new # banks, but not all. . .

I would think it's 45+ days out of sprint (for the number). And for the 5 for $100 it's DOB or SSN out of Sprint for 45+ days (for same type of account).

And I know you are being extra careful (and thanks for all your input here). . .but if your theory is correct it truly is a crapshoot!!!
My respects to you as godfather of this deal, Needgeech!worship

Your observation that this is a cautious approach is correct.
  1. Many—if not most—of us want to avoid any potentially painful, possibly unwinnable ineligibility disputation with clueless customer service—after already having paid for 3, 4, maybe more months service.
  2. None of us truly knows what Sprint means by: "previously activated numbers may not be eligible for this offer."
  3. Therefore, best preemptive strategy is to avoid using a number that has been on Sprint before—recognizing all the gotcha possibilities that you list about the past history of any number, but hopefully minimizing them.
Sure, some elements of this deal are a crapshoot, turning on SD-community's, rather than Sprint's interpretation of terms that won't be known for 90 days—but ain't that the fun of Slickdeals? LMAO

Hopefully, Sprint's ultimate application of terms will turn out to be as generous as possible and nobody finds themselves in disputation purgatory. Peace

10 days is whats been reported throughout this thread. I have no idea what happens on the 11th day. Smilie

1. Try the no credit check option first. You dont need to provide SSN in the port details. All I gave was phone number, account number, and pin.
2. Only if you choose to do the credit check rather than no credit check. They seem to do some basic identity check if doing no credit check.
3. I didnt buy any sims, maybe someone else can answer about the sim.
Thanks for the answer. Can I know how/where to choose the 'no credit check' option? I want to make sure they don't pull my credit. Thanks again.

search for "no credit check" after you get into sprint.com from a cashback site.

Getting the dreaded "credit error" alert asking me to call in. Tried 3 different browsers, incognito mode, different emails, credit or no-credit, different contact phone numbers, different family members names(they all live with me). Only have 1 mailing address-so that must be what is getting "flagged" by Sprint. Oh well, on to the next deal...
