Sprint WILL RELOCK your unlocked device as they did to mine. Not a single incident as friends and family of mine got their RELOCKED to the sprint network. We all had unlocked devices when signed up. Now all our phones are locked to Sprint. Thats illegal.
You have to stay for 90 days to keep the $300 and their unlock policy is 60 days, so while I agree they should not be re-locking phones, you can get it re-unlocked after 60 days and before your 90 day requirement is fulfilled.
Thanks! Ordered the BYOD Amazon SIM on Monday and was sitting on whether to switch my Iphone over. I felt a little dirty about going back to Sprint. I left them 4 years ago (after 18 years as a customer) and said I'd never go back.

Glad I did. $300 is better than $100 and I can still port out in a few months. No contracts on the Kickstarter plan. They automatically waived the activation fee by doing it online as well, but after looking at my confirmation email it says there will be a one-time credit of $30 within 3 invoices however that plays out. My first bill will be charged 30 days from today.

I was concerned with the Amazon reviews saying they were sent 4 of the same SIMs, but it worked flawlessly. Over chat the rep told me which one to use. I also asked if I could double down on both the $300 and $100 Amazon SIM promotion, but was a no go. Worth a shot anyway.

I bought a Pixel 3 XL from Sprint as part of this deal. Does anyone know if there is a way to check that the phone has been unlocked other than popping another SIM in? I activated on 3/25 so I'm on day 50 exactly right now.

Things that I have already tried:
1) I tried Googling and none of the results I found were helpful for the Pixel 3
2) I tried checking for the "UICC Update" button under About > Phone > Update but there no such thing on the Pixel 3 UI
3) I tried checking using the Ting BYOD and it says "Balance Owed" ting.com/mobile/check_device
4) I tried chatting with customer service and it took them an hour to come back and tell me that they took my request but it wouldn't be done until the end of the billing cycle ???

I'm on KickStarter, if that makes a difference.
I also purchased Pixel 3XL. I have exceeded 50 days service and called them for unlock today. CSR said it already shows unlocked. OEM unlocking is still grayed out. However, ting and xfinity mobile say my device is compatible with their service. I am yet to try another sim card though. Did your OEM unlocking status change?

I got a spare Mint Mobile SIM and popped it in and it worked fine.

However, the OEM unlock thing is still greyed out for me. So, there doesn't appear to be any reliable way to confirm that a Pixel is unlocked other than just trying a different SIM. I never got an unlock notification on my phone or anything.
It might have automatically unlocked post 50 days. I do remember trying visible sim in the very 1st week and got an error saying phone is locked to carrier.

OEM Unlocking is related to Bootloader being locked by the carrier. There is no clear info regarding OEM Unlocking(Bootloader) and Sim unlock for Sprint Pixel 3 XL. On some forums, users have reported them to being the same. Which means, once the Sprint Pixel 3(XL) hits 50 days, it is sim unlocked, which should OEM unlock it also. However, as per SoCalTiger68's post, his phone seems to be Sim unlocked however, Bootloader is still locked. I also bought the Sprint Pixel 3 XL and I was hoping that the Bootloader will be unlocked after 50 days. If anyone is able to OEM unlock their Sprint Pixel 3 XL, please shate the process.

I don't know about the Pixel, but my preowned LG Tribute bought from Sprint was not automatically unlocked. I had to do it manually on the 50th day, but it was easy. See this post: https://slickdeals.net/f/13914350-sprint-bring-your-own-device-port-in-number-get-300-prepaid-mastercard-free-w-eligible-plan?p=137040839#post137040839

My Sprint-branded LG Stylo 4+ bought on HSN was put into service on 3/27. Today is the 50th day and when I used the same method it didn't work (said to contact the carrier). It'll try it again tomorrow. If it still doesn't work, I'll have to contact Sprint.

Yes, I'm in KS and Sprint charges the $2.50 admin fee and other fees too. For me, total Sprint taxes & fees are about 17% of the base price ($5.87 for a $35 Kickstart Plan). AT&T taxes & fees are outrageous ($33.31 for $120 4-line plan, or 28%) for the same location.
got first at&t bill. they're charging me 31.65% in taxes and scam fees. sprint was 26.68%. what a racket! vomit

My 5 lines at TopC have changed to Denied today. FU. It can't be any simpler new line activation = $80. Lines are activated and remain so.

Got the speed bump call this number message on rebatehq for the $300 rebates. Hopefully that just means they are about to send them out. Still shows as pending on the sprint offer site.

referrals still pending

Kind of sick of rebates now.

What are the disadvantages of bootloader being locked? Can't root? or something else? I don't foresee myself rooting pixel.

Try and let us know. This is what I found online:
Unlocking requirements
Sprint Postpaid Devices

Sprint will unlock a device from Sprint's network under the following circumstances:
The device is SIM Unlock capable
The device must be or have been active on the Sprint network for a minimum of 50 days
Any associated Service Agreement (or any Minimum Service Term, where applicable), Installment Billing Agreement, or Lease Agreement has been fulfilled including, but not limited to, payment in full of any applicable: 1) early termination fees, 2) accelerated installment or lease payments, and/or 3) end-of-lease purchase options. Because leased devices are not owned by the user, the end of lease purchase option must be exercised and paid in full before the SIM unlock is completed.
The associated account is in good standing
The device has not been reported as lost or stolen, associated with fraudulent activity, or otherwise flagged as ineligible to be unlocked
For SIM unlock-capable devices (generally most devices launched after February 2015), Sprint will automatically unlock postpaid devices when they becomes eligible.

That is automatic unlocking with sprint phones. I know there is an expectation that you can just wake up one day and pop in a tmobile sim on the 50th day but your phone has to be updated some how. They automatically cleared the lock at their end and pressing that option in your phone just accepts it. Manually would be the whole circus show of asking customer service nicely to unlock it.

I think they automatically unlock those bought from them but not byod.

I am waiting since the official sprint site still shows as pending.

I chatted with Sprint about an hour ago and the rep did the unlocking on his end. My phone was still showing "locked to Sprint SIM" so I touched the UICC Unlock option a few times but still failed. Although I asked and the rep said I didn't need to reboot, I rebooted the phone anyway. When the phone came up, there was a message that the SIM is unlocked and configured to use with any SIM. I put in a FreeUp/AT&T SIM and it worked.

Did you try reboot before contacting Sprint as well? The reason I ask is my rep when she said my device already shows unlock still asked me to reboot just in case!

I did try rebooting before contacting Sprint, hoping that it was automatically unlocked on the 50th day (today), but no luck. So I contact Sprint via Chat. Just a short few minutes wait before I got a "regular" rep. When I told her I wanted to get my phone unlocked, she said "May I ask for what reason?". I replied that I just wanted to try the phone with different SIMs but I'm still keeping my Sprint service. She passed the Chat to a "techie" rep to do the unlocking.

Don't switch the SIMs. It probably locks again after you put Sprint SIM after putting in non-Sprint SIM.
