this is only AC1200. It's older tech.
I bought this last month when Amazon had it for $97. It's super easy to set up, manage, and gets the job done for the price. Keep in mind that the Deco M3 is a repeater system, so speed is a little less when connected to an extender AP instead of the base unit. It's still been fine for streaming and anything else I've thrown at it. TP Link does have the Deco P9 with powerline backhaul/hybrid mesh system if you need something beefier, but it's over double the price. The M3 has been perfectly fine for home use.

Definitely notable.

But shouldn't matter to most people coming from slower AC speeds. They will still be able to stream video and do the internets.

Gamers might want to do their research first.

hey guys, a couple of q's for those who have this / have set this up;

Goal: to set up my in-laws who are not tech savvy, have spotty/slow wifi with the spectrum router.

Problem 1: hardware - will this replace the spectrum router, that they are renting now at $5/mo? or is this in conjunction with?

Problem 2: maintenance - if the system does go down, is it relatively easy to get back up? (turn it off/on again)

Problem 3: initial set up - does it require going into cmd prompt, type in the IP, etc etc, or does it come with an exe file that walks you through it rather easily?

Coverage is good on my M5, but it lacks a lot of features. Can't even set the channel for WiFi. Also have a few devices that continually set themselves back to "fast roaming" after disabling.

For a very basic setup it's probably ok, but any sort of functionality can be expected to be limited. I've had it since december and am ready to dump it already.

This does not work for online gaming (CS:GO or Shooters like MW). I had issues with my new desktop that I built but downstairs in my living room and my Nighhawk router is upstairs.

I had tried expensive USB Wifi adapters, internal PCie Wifi cards, etc. Then tried the Mesh system. For general streaming, it works very well, however for online gamng, I was still getting high latency all the time. Connection rate is good though at 866Mhz over my internal Wifi card.

Instead of running a 100 feet cable from my router to my desktop, I tried the TP link powerline adapter. Ran CAT6 cables on both ends of the powerline. PC is now connected at 1GB and all the online latency went away. I didn't even expect powerline adapters to work (if you look on YouTube, its usually meh reviews).

I've had the powerline for 2 weeks now and zero issues. I play MW every night for 2 hours and zero issues with that either. Just another alternative.

PS: My house is 10 yrs old since powerline depends a LOT on the quality of your house wiring.

I have read everything available and they never mention ports on the components. There have to be some!

for problem 1: most rented routers are modem+router 2 in 1 devices. if that's the case, you'll have to buy a modem too.

1 - if you are using a spectrum router? - this will be able to replace it. however, if it is a spectrum modem/router or modem- you won't be able to..
you can buy a modem (make sure it's on their approved modem list) and then return the spectrum modem to save on the monthly rent..you will still need a router though..
2- not sure, it should be
3 - it uses a phone app, so it should be relatively simple to set up..

I've been researching a lot. Constantly get old tech answer. But its new enough for me. I think the costco deal is better. But then you need to buy a switch if you need more ethernet ports.

So this is between an extender and a true mesh system? Where each node works as a hub?

How much slower do the speeds get?

Hmm, this netgear seems like the better product/value. ALthough my house is fairly small,i would want stronger connections to my farthest areas and into the front/back yard
