A great M.2. I bought the 2TB version for $199 during Newegg's BF sale.

I have a 1TB EX920 and a 2TB EX950 in my primary workstation. The 920 runs my databases, the 950 my games. No complaints! I do think the 920 can get hot (60-65c) but only when restoring a 60GB database. That's an extreme sequential-write load. In normal usage, the temp is cool.

Should put a heat sink on it

Check the latest user reviews. It seems SP did a bait and switch on the parts and newer stock shipping out don't meet the quoted speed.

Tempted to get one to put into an external enclosure. Has anyone tried that already with this drive?

Double check the max speeds u can get from the enclosure to ur port. I'm seeing a lot of caps around 550 or 950Mbps

Don't have an answer but

Btw Adata's xpg sx8100 is $10 cheaper for less write speed, if you need the money. Depends on if u need that write speed or just read

luckily you don't have 970 evo plus. that thing idles at 60 degree, where as my 920 (in the same system) idles at 30 to 40.

those number are with heatsink.
