There are no Menard's here, but doesn't Menards allow you to exchange a product that is missing something or defective. I'd exchange it and let Menards deal with everything. You just bought it today!

If I bought it from Amazon, and it was missing the shadowline, I'd just contact Amazon and click exchange or something, and they would send a new one and a shipping label for old one. Plus, I think Kohls and UPS accept items from Amazon not in original box.

I still don't feel like trying to return. Box is trashed, saw is mounted, blade changed to 80 tooth and been used several times.

It sounds like you are enjoying the saw, even though it is missing the shadow line. Let us know if Delta sends the part instead of having you return and exchange.

Will do. All my false outrage was calmed by how well the saw works.

I would be willing to bet someone swapped the saw and kept the new one. Honestly though, I would still talk to Menards. They usually are pretty accomodating.

Are you sure you're not just missing the switch to turn it on? It is under a jelly plastic thing right above the handle....

I have this saw in the 12" version - got it from Menards on a single day sale for $331 plus 11% rebate - I had been waiting for a deal on the Bosch or the Makita, but the price was too good! So far I like it a lot for a construction saw, but it is really hard to dial in for cabinet grade work.

OMFG!

Yes, there is a switch and it works...I wish the manual mentioned it. I never noticed it while working with all the other controls and adjustments.

Good to know, I was a little worried about quality control....Your right! I downloaded the 12" owners manual (10 " not online) and the shadow line is not mentioned. But, it is on the parts list (part 302). Also, if you looked at the video I linked in post 2 that shows the new features, it is shown there

BTW, how does the shadow line feature work?, Do you like it? From reviews of others, I hear it is a lot better than lasers

Actually, using your terminology and defining sustained price as at least 3 days, it would look like this:

$600 -> $349 -> $600 -> $402 -> $353 -> $400 -> $353 -> $400 -> $353 -> $402 -> $600 -> $400 ->$332

But, it is easier to just look at a chart from Keepa or CCC

This conversation is like arguing with a marketing department about their pricing strategy and I don't have time to continue it beyond pointing out what I have already. 3-days is too short to be considered sustained IMO. Especially on Amazon where this type of pricing strategy is common. Please refer to the chart i posted in the first few posts in this thread for exact details and decide for yourself based on your needs.

Why do we need to look at your posted chart? Just go to the actual chart on Keepa or CCC, and look at the actual price data, no need to look at a marked up chart that you posted. Also, this is Slickdeals, the current price is a slickdeal, and Menards sale ends in 2 days, so price may go up after that.

It's definitely a better idea to look at the data yourself (raw data not shown on CCC graphs so I suggest Keepa. Google "Keepa" and enter B07V8VL3MH to get to this specific product. Here's the updated graph from Dec 1 to current.

Yes, many here have been trying to tell you:

Common or Easily obtainable price is about $400 (although it has gone up to $600)
A good sale price is about $355
And the Slickdeal price (all time low which is current) is $332

Now,Home Depot's regular online price is $500, but they had a sale a few days ago for $400 but its back to $500. But we are really talking Amazon (and Menards if you live near a store) prices here. Menard's sale ends on Saturday, so we can expect Amazon's price to probably go back to $400.

Would somebody who has this saw (the 10" version) mind doing me a favour? I'd love to know exactly how deep it is. In other words, if I have it against a wall, pushed as far back as possible, how far does the front of the base handle stick out (either when at 90 degrees, or when rotated round to 45 degrees). Thank you in advance!!
