Looked like a really hot deal but then I looked up the CPU, seems like an odd combination (similar to the intel i5) and might be a bottleneck

The CPU is not strong enough to handle the GPU. You won't get all the power out of that 2060. A better deal would be an Intel 9750h for like $80 more.

Which means this should be more than $250 less. good luck trying to haggle with best buy right now... look elsewhere

I have the model with the Ryzen 7 R7-3750H in it and it works great for all the games I've thrown at it. 200 less on the CPU mark shouldn't make much of a difference. The 2060 carries the weight. The screen is nice and 120Hz is plenty frames for most gamers. There's decent cooling and a solid build quality. The only problem I have with this laptop is there's only HDMI output...no DP.
