Recent Motorola Tracfones do get updates - from Motorola. The TF Moto G6 has updated to Android 9, has 3gb ram & 32gb storage.

A Tracfone alternative is the Moto G6 on Ebay, with 1 yr/1500/1500/1.5 for $99 direct from Tracfone. It arrives with Android 8.1 and immediately updates to 9.x. Painless update, though it takes some time. Use Tracfone chat on your account to get set up. There are a couple of settings unique to the Moto. Not perfect, but I like it as my replacement for the LG Fiesta 2's from last year.
