Reviews say they were created in HD. Came out in 2001 so right on the cusp.
I watched s1e1 preview for both products (season vs bundle) & they look the same to me... I'd think it's gotta just be labeled wrong on one of them...but can't find the evidence for sure

I've heard returning a digital purchase from Apple is pretty easy.
I might be able to try (the SD bundle to see if it plays in 1080) this evening after work but if anyone else beats me to it, I'm all ears.

I tried out the preview on my IPad Pro, and they look pretty much the same. When I tried both on my desktop however there was a significant loss in quality. I would Def spend the extra $5

It isn't mislabeled. Amazon only had the SD version for sale for a long time, and it's only in the last year or two that they started selling an HD version.
As for why the preview looked the same, a lot of previews that I see look like they are in SD. I've refused to buy a bunch of movies because the preview looked low-quality.
Also, the jump from SD to HD isn't as big for animation, and may be providing a different benefit. For Batman: the brave and the bold, the SD version had SUPER bad interlacing. Any time there was any lateral movement on screen, the top half would not match the bottom half and it was so distracting that I couldn't watch it. I think it got fixed when an HD stream became available, but SD-only was a disaster

If you're going to buy this show anyways I don't think this is the version you would want to spend money on, opt instead for the HD version as the SD version has the TV crop and the creators mastered it in HD with widescreen format but put everything in the middle so the TV broadcast could be cropped without losing the story line. That said might as well get the best version.

I bought season 1 a year or 2 ago when it was on sale. Set an alert on CCC, and this was the first time I got a hit on that alert.
