keep in mind, if the modem you end up getting was used with the same internet provider as you're on, you might run into an issue activating it with your account. Your internet provider might say that cable modem's MAC ID belongs to a different account.

You should be able to return it in that instance, but wanted to make folks aware.

Just wanted to say that from a technical level, the most common cause for inconsistent and weak wireless single is the capacities aging. When they actually refurbish them are the factory, they typically have functionality on par with brand new units. In case anyone was discerned with the "refurbished"title. Keep in mind refurbs typically come with a much shorter return period and warranty.

Yes, according to the list below (Comcast Xfinity). It also has a broadcom chipset for those curious, so no problematic Puma chipset in this model.

Ours on Comcast has been running fine for a few years.

Anyone know if this one has the bad or good chip. I remember reading the cm700 has a bar chip compared to the cm1000. Not sure about the cm500 though.

this is a cable modem, not a wifi router. Though yes wifi routers use junk components,,they really need to be replaced every 3 years or so.
I've had my old Zoom for going on 5 years this month (just looked at amazon where I bought it) and it's still pushing hard to this day. Only thing is, I can't get full speed on what I'm actually paying for due to it not being able to handle it. If I got a new one I'm sure I'd see a minor improvement but nothing ground breaking as 100mbps is pretty fast for most homeowners. So I wouldn't say you NEED to replace it every 3 years. Maybe ours is lucky though

I paid just a couple $ more for this model refurbished from Amazon in January. No issues activating on Xfinity and it has been a flawless performer thus far. Between it and upgrading my old wireless router, the speed and reliability of my wifi is noticeably better.
