My stupid German Shepard/Rottie mix runs through the screen at least once a summer, and my drunk ass is good for about half that. For 20 bucks it's easier than resplining it. In for 2 of the cheapos.

Might just be me, but I got sucked into watching the entire installation video even after realizing I couldn't use this.

I came across this sale a few days ago as I happened to be searching for doors. I bought three steel and one "heavy duty" aluminum. I've installed one of each. They work differently that the ones being replaced. The individual wheels aren't spring loaded..there's a spring loaded channel to which the wheels attach. Installation was simple...set into the grooves/channels. Hold door closed and tighten two lower screws that allow spring loaded channel /wheels to float. So secure the lower channel but allow the upper channel to float. Door works nice. Probably the biggest negative to these doors is the seal on the rear of the door. It's a bit stiff. it comes long for you to trim to size. Realistically it's working fine.
The aluminum version has a pretty slender handle that you poke with your finger to unlatch/open/close. It's larger on the steel version. The aluminum version is stiffer I suppose but I'm not sure what benefit that adds. When we close the door we still have to be somewhat gentle...you can't push it outward much as you slide it closed or it will flex too much and not go into the channel in the door jam. Not a big deal. Overall we're happy with the doors.

That's delivery, as in delivered via truck from your local store like an appliance would be. Hence the ridiculous charge.

I can't imagine how horribly mangled one of these would be on arrival if shipped via UPS/Fedex.

Installed the steel one yesterday. Happy with it....very light and sturdy... curious why aluminum is more. Figured steel is much sturdier

Thanks again for the comments - and reviews - on this deal! I still see some availability in my area (surprisingly).

Caveat Emptor! I just returned ours this morning after a fruitless 20 minutes trying to coax it into our frame. The 36x80 steel door says on the package, "36x80-3/4 actual size." Stupid me, I assumed that was the flex size, but no: the screen door, top to bottom, is definitely more than 80" tall even with the top and bottom flattened. We actually slightly buckled the new frame at the handle, but it was just too tall for our frame. _Maybe_ our sliding door frame collapsed a half-inch over the years... it's possible, right? But if the Lowe's screen door had been a true 80", I'd be a happy customer and they wouldn't be writing off a bent door. 😕

Interesting. The description says:
Universal fit - fits most sliding patio doors
Height adjusts 77-1/4 inch to 80-3/4 inch

I will measure mine.

Edit: just measured mine (steel 36 x 80-3/4). With it still wrapped in plastic and cardboard on top & bottom, it is 77.5 tall.

Hmm, got two of those and they fit my 78" high opening just fine. Did you loosen the screws as described in the instructions?

Anyway, thanks OP, this worked very well for my sagging frame - the screws on top don't have to be tightened, so the rail part moves in and out depending on the position of the door and curvature of the frame. Excellent solution (until the whole enchilada comes crashing down).

Yes I don't know whats missing in the post above but for me the Door is 36" wide. My door height is 77.5" so I was able to undo the screws and lower the top and bottom enough and then angle the door up and release some tension back as its not 100% leveled height.

Deff 77-80.xx inches unless you got a diff sized door Embarrassment.

Will the 36x80 fit a sedan with back seats folded down? Not sure if packaging makes it wider than it is.

Glad I'm not the only one who had this issue with theirs. My frame doesn't appear to be straight so when I tightened the screws the whole screen would come off as it slid across the rail. I just left the screws untightened and the springs on the top and bottom adjust to the frame accordingly and it slides back and fourth with no issues. Initially my store had zero 30x80 in stock but I checked a week later on a whim and sure enough they got 3 in stock which was surprising for a clearance item. Anyway, $20 well spent and works like a charm.

I got one of these a few weeks ago and after not having one for a few years, it was a rude awakening when I walked right through it...
