QA Edit: Seems the 50% off appliance part of this deal may have died but users as of today 5/1 still say they're getting the 50% off on open box TVs still. So we will let this thread stay in Hot Deals for another day or so, for users that still can get it.
------------------------

I was shopping around for a new washer/dryer, and picked out a pair by LG. Called in to the store to find out what might be damaged on the washer since you can't go in and see it. The Best Buy website lists the open box price as $695.99. They went over and looked at it, told me about the scuffs, and then mentioned "oh, and the open-box promotion brings it down to $347.99

I bought it, then called the other Best Buy that had the matching dryer, also as open-box. I asked them what was wrong with it, and about the price since "another Best Buy said you're running an open box promotion" and we all know that could be specific to one location or whatnot. The guy on the phone said the price I got the washer for was crazy, he'd never heard of such a thing. He went to explain that open box pricing changes all the time depending on the new item sale prices etc, but he'd ask his manager. He came back and said that there's an additional coupon he has to scan, for 50% off open box major appliances. The Geek Squad extended warranty price is based on the price you pay, not MSRP, so that also goes down in price should you be interested.

Pricing on the website does NOT reflect this promotion. You must call the store so they can scan the coupon, and pay over the phone. My order doesn't show any SKU for a coupon, just the super-low price.

I placed orders online. Will either call or show up to figure out discount. Either way, product is locked down.

Just got off the phone. Was able to get WFW8620HC Washer and a WED8620HC Dryer for roughly 800. The employee said he didn't think it would work and to check online but I asked if he could maybe just check with a manager...and he came back after being on hold for 10 minutes and said it worked. I'm thinking about getting a TV now.
I'm currently picking up the same set in SE Michigan. My cost was a little over $900 before I added the 5 year warranty to both.

My local bestbuy says the 50% discount is applied on the regular price and not on the already discounted open box price. Is it true or my store is being smart?
Mine said the same thing. Given that it was still a very slick discount, we didn't make a fuss about it.

Local Best Buy manager telling me this open box friends and family major appliances deal is "up to 50%" off and that min discount is 5%. The prices they are giving me are nowhere near the effective 50% off the open box price (washer/dryer set is ~$1500 total whereas should be ~$750 after the 50% discount). He said this is a friends and family discount that started saturday and he also said he entered his employee code and price did not go lower. Talking to manager and not sure how to get him to understand? Or this is regional (I think this is likely). Giving up for now.

Yeah honestly this is pretty much exactly what I got from a couple different Best Buy locations over the phone. Some stuff is still a pretty good deal (floor model dishwasher was 40% off retail) but not nearly as much as the 50% off the already discounted price.

What store in MN?
Oakdale. I did a search for the full twin cities. Oakdale was the only one that had an actual pair. If you dont care about matching, you can order from multiple storefronts.

Good luck! I purchased the last satisfactory Oled TV online last night and the store said there is no 50%. I told them that another store confirmed the discount but they told me to call the 1-800 number.

Those who got the deal and needed to speak to the manager did the manager apply a manual discount and if so did you have to explain the friends and family promo or did you simply ask for the open box discount?

What was the promo code? How did they apply it?
there is no promo code, items are just discounted in store. The 65" OLED had a red sticker on it marked down to $1099, online it was $2200 or so. Once there I was able to get at $979 out the door with tax. It seems that best buy is marking all open box items down for employees to buy and clear out the store. Applause

I called my store, and they said to buy it online and when i get there she will make sure to adjust the price. I confirmed the price with her of what she say. So will head down once i get the confirmation and if i get it adjusted will leave with it, if not I will be leaving empty handed. Will hopefully add the bestbuy geeksquad stuff in store.

I told my person-in Maryland- that I would hold while he looked up the promotion or asked someone else who
may know.

I was able to get the Samsung Q90 82' for 2250 yeee! The Open Box price was 3599 online and when it called they dropped it down to 2250, which is not bad. First time I have been able to score a deal like that. Thanks dudes and dudets!

I tried calling a store in Seattle area and they had the washer and dryer in stock. Told them about the friends and family discount and they entered a "License Plate" but they still showed the same price. It was the same skus as the OP.. They said it was the price that corporate sets up after they enter the license plate. Hmm..
