As a healthcare worker we dont know if the person were talking to who is sick is just having a bad cold or the Covid. Its super stressful.

Things like this is where we can go home buy stuff we like and be like "yey some perks!"

Thanks for the companies and to people who dont go "OMG why are they getting discounts and not me!"

Thanks OP for compiling this. My wife is an RN in a strict Covid Unit in a hospital in Newark, NJ. Had no idea that Verizon was offering a discount. Gonna save us a bit of money.

Had a few vacations planned this year that is either being automatically cancelled by the companies or that we definitely won't be able to take because the hospital cancelled all PTO usage for them until further notice. We lost all the money we spent on the vacations, so what few bucks we can save is helpful.

I did, but on the ID.ME website I don't fit in any of the categories listed. I'm not a nurse, doctor, teacher or military. 🤷 I work inpatient pharmacy at a hospital. I tried to register under medical personnel, but it's just for doctors.

I never said they shouldn't get discounts isnt right that other workers that are just as essential aren't getting the same discounts

Most essential workers got $1200 as direct deposit. Health care workers didn't (they were left at the mercy of their hospitals to give it to them, and so far I don't know of anyone who got it in the hospital I work, not there is any news from administration about it). This is quite an irony, and these small discounts from private companies help to offset the financial damage to health care workers by a tiny bit.

The 1200 as in the stimulus? I've not heard anything about essential workers getting extra.

I don't know what you are talking about. My wife is a nurse at a hospital, and we got the Stimulus. That goes to everyone who qualifies. Not just "essential workers". If you did your taxes and submitted it with a DD for refund, you should have gotten it already. If you don't use DD, you get a paper check. If you don't get one, it can be for multiple reasons, such as being above the limit on you AGI, or if you filed jointly with someone with an ITIN (mixed status couples).

Just really want to thank you for taking the time to put all this together. I am happy to be a part of the front line taking care of COVID patients. The hospital I am in is doing an excellent job providing PPE, and I am fortunate for that. I understand everyone is going through some form of hardship be a health care professional or not. However, I cannot express to you how mentally exhausted we all are expecting to wake up sick from our patients.
