1800W, in case anyone was wondering.

The 1300W units are fine - and less likely to trip a breaker if you're concerned that you don't have a 15A circuit to use this on - but the extra wattage can be useful. For example, I use mine to brew 5-gallon batches of beer since the alternative is my electric range (which can't reach or maintain boil) or hauling out the propane and stand burner (which I'm too lazy to do, and requires that I've been paying attention to the amount of propane I have left). This is cheap, portable, and does the job.
did you use the right pots or pans? It will only work for certain pots and pans. You can test it by getting a magnet and see if it sticks to the pot and pan. If it sticks you can use with the induction cooktop.
The pan will only work if a magnet will cling to the bottom. My stainless pans are not magnetic. I can only use my cast iron with this.

I'm always interested in these because I'm on the road a lot, but I have a $10 hotplate that does the job.

And depending on what you're using with the hotplate, it might be more versatile, too.

What makes the induction units so efficient also limits their use. I'd still recommend one over a hotplate if a person doesn't have something already - especially if another $30-35 1800W Rosewill unit with the free stainless pot pops up - but it's not worth swapping it out if you have something that works for you already.

These are good, used them for a hot pot party for new years. I had them on low and they were still keep it hot.

edit: looks like i bought a similar model that is no longer available from BB, this maybe the newer model, but the older ones worked well.

I got the same one from December too, that one is a 1300 watt for $30. It works great and heats up fast.
