5/5/2020: Now...$100 : only after instant redemption rebate ($200) and paying 6 months of service (after 6 mts , u will get $100 virtual prepaid card).
Note:
>>Only color available is black. Stock may vary by store.
>>Store may insist on selling plans >$30, i.e. the $60 plan or a $40 plan, and $6 monthly charge for insurance. They may add on a "free" pet tracker for tax (on $100), open up a phone line for $15 activation plus taxes and $10 monthly charge. Some have reported taking these charges off voids the $100 virtual prepaid card promotion despite the store representative saying otherwise. Speaking to the promotion reps from (800) 999-6389 and they only mention being on the $40 line is sufficient.

Don't know about the rest of you but the $100 rebate does not come back to you automatically. You need to apply at https://promo.metrobyt-mobile.com/. I took me some looking around to find this URL. Metro didn't tell me and the retailer I bought my phone at said to watch out for a text message from Metro that never came.

"Your handset must have had active service for a minimum of one hundred eighty (180) consecutive days from the individual phone's activation date."
For 4 phones (max), you are looking a little better but not by too much (cost per phone drops by $22.50 assuming the fees are only $5 cumulatively for all four phones).
Port 4 numbers purchased from ebay. At the Metro store, prepay for 4 discounted iphones plus taxes, and prepay for one month of service and activation for each phone. Then let the Metro service expire after the one prepaid month due to non-payment. Put the phones in a drawer for 6 months, at which time they all will automatically unlock.

These are pretty comparable deals, I'd say apples to apples. If you already have this service and are sticking around... this is fine. If you are making the switch to get the phone, you are better off elsewhere.
Walmart is great if you have an existing plan with AT&T or Verizon.
Redpocket is probably the cheapest way to get the phone. You do have to pay for 6 months of service, just like here, but you can get that on eBay for less than $180. I mean I paid that amount for an annual unlimited plan with 5gb of data per month from Red Pocket. And, they did not get my CC info as I used PayPal. No worries about recurrent billings or surprise charges.
Just depends on your endgame and what you are starting with.
In the past, employees have called the company you are porting from and asking how long you have been with that company.
This is due to people buying numbers on Ebay and porting
Some will charge extra fees
I'd suggest paying CASH so they can't do other shady things.
I was reading in another thread that the loophole to have it unlocked automatically after 6 months with ought paying for 6 months might not work anymore.
