It sounds like they have changed the terms of unlocking from their previous deals, so that now you have to actually USE the phone (have Metro service) for 6 months to get unlocked. Previously, you only needed to wait 6 months (with or without use) to get auto unlocked.

If that's so, the deal is:

$99 + $15 activation + (whatever the cheapest 6 month plan you can get) for the phone. Probably still a good deal, but not as cheap.

Perhaps someone who goes to the store can provide info on the cheapest 6 month plan is for this phone.

Oh, and Metro also shut down the "buy number on eBay to port" thing last time. Now you have to have been on the previous service for some period of time. So there's that, as well.

Thanks for the heads up. That only knocks off $30 from my estimate though.

These are pretty comparable deals, I'd say apples to apples. If you already have this service and are sticking around... this is fine. If you are making the switch to get the phone, you are better off elsewhere.

Walmart is great if you have an existing plan with AT&T or Verizon.

Redpocket is probably the cheapest way to get the phone. You do have to pay for 6 months of service, just like here, but you can get that on eBay for less than $180. I mean I paid that amount for an annual unlimited plan with 5gb of data per month from Red Pocket. And, they did not get my CC info as I used PayPal. No worries about recurrent billings or surprise charges.

Just depends on your endgame and what you are starting with.
Currently Redpocket is charging full price, but 6 months free, so $399
Visible oversold & cancelled orders
The BestBuy / Sprint deal is a no go with those with fraud alerts or security freezes on credit reports
In your opinion, if you just need a new iphone SE with a cheapest new line (port or new), where is the best deal currently? MetroT is $30 per month.

Ok, provide example where you are better off for $200 including phone and 6 month service.
Where on Earth are you coming up with you're getting 6 months service and the phone for $200?

That means that for one phone (unlocked), you need to spend $100+15+30+180 and the full retail price sales tax. At that price, you are pretty close to or more expensive than other deals (I'm thinking the Red Pocket, Visible, and Wal-Mart).
Well, with Mint Mobile I would be paying $15/month for 3GB, so $90 for 6 months. Metro's cheapest plan would be only $15 more a month. So the phone itself would cost me $100+15+30+90 = $235 for a brand-new iphone. Sure, a Pixel 3a would have a better battery life, and I'm always been an Android person. But for this price, I'm seriously thinking about switching!

You will be disappointed when you see the screen size in person. I thought my Galaxy S10e was too small.lol

Not $99. It will be almost $200 with taxes and the plan.
Could it be paid in advance?

If Metro is $30/month, then the deal is:

$99 + $15 activation + 6*$30 = $294. Add taxes and you're around $300.

AND you need to port in a number that you've been using for a while.

It's not terrible, but it's hardly a barn burner.

But don't you have to stay with MetroT for 6 months before unlock?
So 100 + 15 + 180 (30 x6) = $295 after 6 months?

How would they know how long you've been with the other carrier?

The first month plan is in advance. IDK if you could do the rest in advance. I always pay for one month and than no more after that. The phone will unlock by itself in 6 months.

I see. So just first month plus everything else will be $200 then?
Sorry for asking so much, I just want a decent iPad for the smallest price possible.

Yes, it's $300, but I would pay $90 with Mint Mobile anyway during those 6 months, for my cheap 2gb service. So the phone itself would "cost" me around $210-230, with fees and taxes. Does that make sense?

Good to know. I haven't indeed seen the SE in person. I mean, I'm not a big fan of huge screens anyway...

Cheapest I saw was $30/mo on the Metro site.

Yes. Wouldn't it be too small to be an iPad replacement? There's also the iPhone 7 for $29.
