Yup, the offer is $200 now and $100 after being on the plan for 6 months.

Be very careful when buying from Metro though, the salesperson is trying to upsell a lot of things by blatantly lying. The one who helped me told me I HAD to get the $60 a month plan with the phone. When she showed me the offer on her screen (originally she was going to get me the $99 pricing but couldn't since they changed the offer), it had a special for $40 a month for unlimited data which we preferred (and she couldn't upsell because it was on her screen). She also added on $6 insurance that she said HAD to be on it, but could be removed later.

So as she was putting that in and porting the number, which for some reason took over an hour, she said since we had to wait so long, she would give us a free pet tracker. We don't want that, so we asked for something else, but she said, no she will still give us a free pet tracker and can't give us anything that wasn't Metro branded (and she never brought up what she had that was Metro branded). So despite never asking for one, and asking not to get one, she gives us one anyway and it's $99.99.

So out the door our pricing was $200 for the phone + $92 activation payment (!?!?!?) + $48 in taxes. Ok, that is totally not $200 + $15 activation fee + $40 monthly payment + $6 insurance + $40 in taxes. She stapled the fark out of my receipt so I couldn't read what made up that $92 in activation payment. Ok, here's the break down:

[Phone number to port]
$46 = $40 monthly payment + $6 monthly insurance
$15 activation fee
$3 Taxes
[Some strange phone number]
$10 Plan payment
$15 activation fee
$3 Taxes

Turns out she opened up a whole new service line for the pet tracker! Also the pet tracker added onto the taxes! And she charged us another $10 this month for the pet tracker despite saying it did not add to the fees.

I got home, unstapled the receipt mess, read through it, noticed the strange number, called Metro to dispute it, got hung up on twice as they're asking for the pin (I was pretty pleasant, so I assume it's just me not knowing how to read off their texted security number w/o dropping the call), and the third person managed to credit to my account the $28 in second line fees. I'll have to call back in to drop the service for the pet tracker $10 plan fee (and $6 in insurance) next month too, and I have 7 days to return the pet tracker back to the store I got it from to get back the $8 in taxes off the $100 - $100.

So all in all, to get this plan, I had to pay $10 more for the plan and $6 for the insurance over the ideal slick deal, and would have to do so monthly if I don't cancel. They would have charged me $28 more off the initial OTD price if I didn't dispute.

That is... some crazy level of upsell dickness. So be careful and check everything.

I would suggest you search in this thread for pet tracker and read what someone else was told.

where can you get these phones unlocked brand new for under $400?
Not sure if Amex / Discover 20% off @Amazon deal still live but you can buy Best Buy gift cards.

I bought $500 BB gift cards for only $400 by using both cards.

As the earlier post suggested, you are better off getting this phone from Visible. Availability goes on and off though. RK cb is 15%.

Yeah, it's kind of buried in 14 pages of forum talk. This stuff should be stickied.

So what's left? The CR tries to say I can't change my plan because of promotion terms that don't exist anywhere? How are people resolving it?

I wonder if I could just wait for 6 months, document my communication with Metro customer service, than switch to a different provider and dispute the extra $60 in tracker service charges with my credit card.

What do you guys think? This is such a bs, i was screaming on the phone with their customer service today for an hour. So mad, I can't believe a public company is allowed to do this crap and not getting any class action suits.
