Would the $250 still qualify, since I'm "no longer" a new customer?
The terms say "Add a new line to a new or existing account.......".

Ok might do that, just open one in store, add the lines for the offer, and a couple of days later close the line from in store

I don't know if they have a "grace period" for you to cancel the 1st line without charge, or you'll be stuck with at least one month of service for it.

I suspect you can return the device (and service line) and get a full or prorated refund.

There might be a restocking fee though (depending on if you go through an authorized retailer or AT&T)

The store rep told me she could do the one-line service as BYOD, I just need to bring in the compatible phone so she can get its IMEI. In that case, there's no hardware fees involved in the cancellation.

Gotcha! So your plan is to open an account with one BYOD line, go home and order more lines, and then cancel the original line that you opened in-store?

Why do I have to go in store to activate eSim? I did a similar deal online with Verizon and got it activated within 10 minutes

I cannot do with my old account since it's all hotspot plan.
Then rep suggest me sign up as a new customer, the order was cancelled after maybe 10 hours.

Placed another order and wait for cancel email.

No hp on my credit report for the 1st order.
