Question: how did you determine that "those who activated before 12 AM EST will get a card for all eligible lines." I would not have a problem if new terms were placed on orders placed after 12 AM. People who placed orders under the first offer should have the benefits of that offer, as long as the lines were activated in a timely manner.

BTW, what you call gaming the system, others would call playing by the rules. Sort of like a CEO getting his salary in stock to lower his tax rate.

This is the conclusion I came to when I read the updated terms. I reached out to AT&T Support and the representative confirmed my suspicion. For all I know, she was just telling me what I wanted to hear.

I have no problem with making an extra buck on a policy that wasn't well thought out. Gaming the system can also mean using rules to create an unintended result. In this case, I doubt AT&T expected so many users to sign up for 4+ lines with no intention of using or maintaining the service.

I think the order date, not activation date, should be used to decide when the new terms (limit 2 GCs) apply.

I am switching from T-Mobile to AT&T. My billing cycle at T-Mobile is from the 7th of this month to the 8th of next. If I activate my AT&T SIMs today, does anyone know if T-Mobile will pro-rate and refund the unused portion of my billing cycle?

I'm doing the same port from Tmobile to at&t. I was reading up on this at it seems Tmobile does not prorate the final bill which is horrible.

My follow up question to anyone here is that my billing is 17th to 16th of the next month. So since today is the 15th and I recently placed my order and likely won't get the sim today or tomorrow. Can I pickup the sim in store somehow? Will my tmobile plan get deactivated the day I port over my lines?

I double-checked my statements. T-Mobile debits my credit card on the last day of the month. So, I have not been charged for May/June service yet. Hopefully they will charge me for the days I used but I'll call them later today and confirm.

To your other question, in my experience, your T-Mobile (old) account should get de-activated within a few minutes/hours of activating your AT&T SIMs.

No, they charge for full month if "account" is closed after bill is generated.

@hyperfire21 : if you port successfully by 16th (or even 17th) i.e activate att services, your tmobile account will get closed and you will not be charged.

Damn so my Delivery by dates for the sims are May 19, 2020 - May 21, 2020.

Is there a way for me to expedite this order or pickup the sims at the store instead?

SIMs have to be ordered online to qualify for the GCs. The SIMs will be shipped pre-loaded with the phones numbers ported in.

Assuming your order is approved and the SIMs actually shipped, you can try activating the SIMs before you actually receive them. Go to this site https://www.att.com/checkmyorder/...aQodPFgOEg
enter one of your phone numbers ported in and your zip code. It'll show a list of phone numbers; you can choose to select one or all. Once you click on Submit, your phone number will actually be ported over to AT&T and you won't have cell service until the SIMs arrive.

You could probably just go to activation page and activate it without SIM.

Go here

AT&T extended the deal and placed a new limit on the promotion. Those who activated before 12 AM EST will get a card for all eligible lines. I think this was a smart move because it will cut down on the people who are gaming the system.
has to be order placed before 12AM, not activation.

I had tried twice over 2 weeks and both orders got cancelled. I will try again with this poorer deal for 2 lines and see if they will cancel that too.

From consumers' point of view, you should count as their customers once you place the order with them. However, based on lesson learned from sprint, it is likely ATT will use activation date to determine qualifications. from carrier's point of view, they start billing you only when you activate the service by either you activating the sim when you are ready to use service or they activating the sim with temporary number assigned(like my case with Tmobile) ATT is doing better job here that they reserve your ATT sim with your port in number but let you decide when to start the service)

Feel bad for those who placed on/before the 14th but is not able to activate by the 14th, you can expect that you will go through the hassle of getting >2 reward cards. (as you can see they split into two plans for lines under same order) better to ask the person who emailed the Corp executive for email address in case something goes wrong later. however, I tend to believe ATT will honor the previous terms for ppl who ordered before term modification if you call them)

Ppl who order after 5/14/20, yup 2 reward cards per account.

So you mean one can still order and get credit for up to two lines?
