Now comes another study indicating black light traps are not only useless for mosquito, they are potentially harmful to the environment (and not just to the sensitive ears of neighbors trying to sleep next door). Results of a survey of insects caught in an electrocuter black light trap in Newark, Delaware indicate that nearly all of the insects caught are either harmless or beneficial. Pests, and especially biting pests, do not end up in the traps.
I have had one for the past 3 years. It works very well, however, it is ABSOLUTELY IMPERATIVE to understand how it works and use it correctly. It attracts mosquitoes. Let me say that again. It attracts mosquitoes. What that means is that you can't sit next to it and expect to not have mosquitoes. This needs to be placed away from areas in which you normally are. I have mine in my side yard, and it has definitely cut down on mosquitoes in the front and back yard. Not to mention, when I empty it every few days, there are 100s of dead, dried up mosquitoes in the trap. There are many bad reviews on Amazon for these; I guarantee the majority of them didn't take the time to read and understand how these work, and have them set up and running on somewhere like their porch.
Don't kill honeybees, or any bees for that matter. If you have a problem with bees call your local beekeeper and they will remove them for you, sometimes free of charge.
We're already running low on our bed population. If we get any further we become China and have to hand pollinate our fruits, flowers, and crops with nail polish brushes and vials of pollen.
Now wasps? fark wasps. Spray away!
Purchased one and plugged it in about 20 feet from patio.. it cut down the mosquitoes 20%. So I added another .. then I realize even one mosquito, was one two many.. they lasted 6 months down in south Florida, before ending up in the trash..

Any slickdealers have experience with these traps? Many of the reviews on focuscamera seem fake.
I have some annoying small flies in my office. I've tried natural traps, they don't work. There are no plants in the area, but the front door and windows are within 15 feet. I'd love to stick one of these behind my monitors, but not sure if the bugs would still be drawn to the monitors or the trap!
If you have a local Costco it's cheaper. $119 for 1 acre https://www.costco.com/dynatrap-1...04876.html. My buddy has the one acre and it does fairly well in his backyard. Rural South Georgia so nothing works 100%, but there is a noticeable difference.

I live in Texas and bought two of these at Costco to trap mosquitos....they don't work. They catch pretty much every other kind of flying insect other than mosquitos. We returned them to Costco.

My friend bought one from Costco , turned it on, on his patio/ back yard. It was buzzing etc nice blue light. So one day he decided to take it down and have a look inside. One lonely fly , at the bottom. Back to Costco he went.
We have 2 and we empty them often and they are fullllll of bugs. However, I dont feel like it improves the feeling of having bugs surround me. Citronella and this combined has been the best....
Yep they work. It takes weeks though. So you turn it on early as possible in the season. It gets all the young mosquitoes and kills them. Once it kills the breeding population off you just run it 24/7. People that say it doesn't work are not using it right or not patient enough. I unload inches thick worth of dehydrated dead bugs every couple months. The one I use is one of the 1 acre ones. You do have to replace the bulbs every season to be the most effective. Also can help with some tick issues. Nothing is going to eliminate all mosquitoes.
Didn't cut down the mosquitoes for me. Tried different spots in yard and running 24/7 for the two entire seasons for a year.. Directly followed instructions. Captured mostly other bugs. There were some mosquitoes trapped but didn't reduce the numbers or frequency of bites in my yard. Back to Costco it went.
