New Ting accounts get $100 in Ting credits ($10/mo for 10 months) when you purchase a Google Pixel 3a XL by end of day (23:59 ET) on June 7, 2020. One offer per account. Cannot be combined with any other offer. Credits will be applied within two weeks of purchase. While supplies last.
Excellent question, and the same as mine. This a screaming good deal if you actually want to switch to Ting (I do not), but still pretty slick if you can take the phone somewhere else.
I noticed with the May update[google.com] that there are separate images for "TW carriers" and I'm not sure what that means. Ting Wireless? Probably not, but I haven't found any explanation for what it means, yet.

Could be Tracfone wireless and their umbrella of carriers. I know their stuff is locked down sometimes
Just chatted with a CSR and according to them, the phone is not locked to the network and there's no waiting period before it can be used somewhere else.

I noticed the Pixel 3a XL is currently $299 with $100 in Ting credit. My question is whether the phone is locked to the Ting service / network. I've never used Ting and if it doesn't work out, I'm wondering if I can use the phone somewhere else.

Great! So if I switch to Ting, use the credit, and it doesn't work out, I can take the phone with me to another carrier? Are there any limitations on how long it has to be used with Ting before doing so?
Jaclyn
yes that is no problem

Awesome! I think I'll buy one now
Can I get a copy of this transcript for my records?

So to be clear, I can buy the phone for $299, throw away the SIM and use it on Tmo, or are there some obligations.
FYI Ting uses Sprints network. For my area Sprint is poor.
Per Wikipedia:
Ting is an American mobile virtual network operator and internet service provider launched in February 2012 by Tucows Inc. Ting provides cellular service in the United States using Sprint's CDMA, EV-DO 3G, and 4G LTE nationwide network as well as GSM service via the T-Mobile network.

I did a copy and paste of the chat I had with the CSR, so you're working off the same info I am. Seems to me that there's no obligation to use Ting at all in order to use the phone with another carrier, so I would assume you could simply never activate it on Ting and just use it with your existing carrier.
That said, CSRs don't always know what's up. I also never received the transcript I requested, though it may come in later.
Does anyone know if this is a non-carrier version(same one google selling on their store) or carrier version? The difference between them is bootloader unlock availability.

If you never activate on Ting, sounds like you don't get $100? Am I reading wrong?
This phone for $300 is a deal we've seen before. Good deal if you intend to activate w/ Ting.
