Attempting to dispel some pool magic voodoo:

You can use these, they will increase cyanuric acid. Over time you can only lower cyanuric acid by draining pool water and putting fresh water back in. So in summary if you do that 2-3 times a year you can use these year round really.

Cyanuric acid is not bad. You want some to keep the chlorine in your pool (stabilize it) if it is in full or partial sun for 100% of the day. Too much of it though reduces the ability of chlorine from combining with organic matter to form chloramines. You do not want this.

Your comment cannot be blank.

This is packaged much better than the Costco clorox tabs. Those come in a rectangular can with a lid that allows rainwater to infiltrate. They use that style because more units can be stacked on a pallet. If you must store outdoors, as I must, you are better off with the Sam's packaging, which is the tried and true round bucket with the screw-on lid. It provides excellent protection for this powerful chemical product.

You do not add it consistently through the season, you add it once and then you "top it off" if/when the levels decrease.
Most of the tablet products for use in the toilet break the seals down over time and are bad for the toilet. I would not use anything.

Trichloro for those interested

Good deal price-wise, I only need to add a few chlorine tabs every now and then to my pool, no other chemicals since doing the borax treatment a few years ago. Pre-borax, algae every season, post borax, no sign of algae ever.

What's the borax treatment? I've heard of people adding it to balance ph but I thought you did that consistently throughout the season.

Good to know but I don't store my chlorine tablets outside. Also, reviews claim these tablets are also individually wrapped.

Awesome thanks. I actually have a thread over there where I'm fixing up an old concrete pool.

Can I use these in my toilet reservoir? I use those Kaboom tablets, but they've been out of stock locally, wonder if I can simply put these in its place substituted.

these things. - I would just break the chlorine tablet into chunks and put it in the little purple reservoir thingy.

You could but you may run the risk of prematurely wearing out the toilet flapper seal and the fill valve.

I use this type of tablet in a landscaping water fountain~150-200Gal ...does anyone know if they is a better solution for that application? In the summer as the sun hits it with more intensity, it seems to take off with green algee if not treated. A tablet time release tablet like this seems to do the trick, but causes buildup, and is not as inexpensive over time.
