The top tier is 500 nits. Think Dell XPS, Lenovo ThinkPad X1 carbon, Surface Laptop, Macbook Pros.
I would say above 400 nits is more than enough for most people. If you are doing creative stuff (as in for your job, not just for fun), you probably need the full 500 nits and also look at color reproduction accuracy.
In terms of finding out how many nits this has, I just googled this model and found its info on Lenovo. Usually the manufacturer's site has pretty detailed info as compared to retailer's (like costco)

How's the screen compared to my 2013 13" mac air? Finding mix reviews on nits on the mac.. only reason why i ask id because i think my mac is bright enough.
