10 bucks isnt for the router, its not even for the modem - its for the Fiber to ethernet converter box that you cannot buy. Thats why even if you have your own compatible modem/router they can still charge you the $10.

Thanks for the headsup. I am on the 300 mbps speed and my contract is coming to an end next week. Called the loyalty department and without much problem they switched me to 1 gbps speed at 49.99 for 12 months including HBO max

Have tried calling twice with two different reps. I actually saw this offer on my ATT account notifications saying I was eligible. Couldn't get their online shop to honor the notification so gave their customer service a call. They wouldn't honor it either saying it was only for new members or you'd have to get it added to a TV service. Hmm 🤔

Thanks OP, originally I was told they could only do $65/mo but later mentioned they were able to go to the $49.99 rate which includes all fees, taxes and equipment. I was originally paying $100 flat each month so this is a great deal. HBO Max included as well, now they just need to fully support it on Fire devices so I don't have to side load it.

Just signed up as a new customer with this. I had a $100 visa gift card already tagged on from their current promotion for new internet customers. When I chatted with customer service via live chat to see if I could avoid the equipment fee by using my own equipment, they added on an additional $100 visa gift card for a total of $200 in gift cards to "help offset the cost." Hope this helps someone else considering the switch.

I got them to waive equipment fee for a year. Waived installation of internet 1000 (it costs $100 if you don't bundle with their tv package to just install at&t internet 1000). Free HBO Max. And I also got the $100 Visa card

Is there something specific you told them to get them to waive it? I tried with a couple reps before just going with the gift card offer, but no dice each time.
