10 bucks isnt for the router, its not even for the modem - its for the Fiber to ethernet converter box that you cannot buy. Thats why even if you have your own compatible modem/router they can still charge you the $10.

After initial attempt failed, called again and spoke to Jordan, super nice and friendly rep. Got me setup for the $59.99 plan instead of $49.99/month. Happy camper here to save some greens during the COVID era, every dollar helps.

You have to use theirs since it has authentication built-in. You can, however, set it up for passthrough and disable wireless if you prefer to use your own router. That's how I have mine configured.

Just curious, which market are you in? I think they are more stingy with promotions in some markets. I'm in the Bay Area and could only get $59.99 a month. At least no equipment fees and no data cap.

AT&T keeps on giving. I got on the AT&T 1000 deal. Then got a free WiFi extender. And now HBO Max included. I love the speed so far but their router/modem is so bad.

Was an existing customer on Fiber 300 and got upgraded to the Gig plan at the same price. $50 + $10 equipment fee. HBO Max included.
Was also on a contract for 12 months and am 4 months in but they didn't make an issue of it.

Had to go to billing agent >> transfer to retention / loyalty agent before they gave it to me!

I've been with AT&T for a few years now, and seen my bill increase from $70/month to $95/month over that time for the 1gb fiber plan. Tried calling a couple of times in the past as well as chatting to them online to try and get them to reduce the monthly payment when there were other promotional rates available but without any success.

Decided to give it another try today. Had to wait a bit to speak to customer service, but was eventually able to get through to someone. They were quite helpful and while they couldn't get it down to the $50/month promo rate advertised on the website, they did reduce it to $70/month instead, which is still a $300 saving over the next 12 months for a 30 minute phone call, so still a win.

Would definitely recommend giving them a call if you're paying more than that.
