I spoke with the loyalty team and they were able to bring down my price to $49.99 for 12 months, so ask for the Loyalty team when you call

I have been waiting to get anything to kick out comcast. Current speed through att is 1.5mbps, for $49.99. Wonder if they will install a dialup modem.

Nice deal but I'm not sure I need more than the 80 gbps I'm getting from Comcast for 30/mo and I own my own old ass modem and use my own router running ddwrt that I like.

That's not true in every case. I get 600+ for download and usually way more for uploads. And I have multiple devices connected using internet. You will get 940 if you hook up only one device to the main line.

I'm not sure that would work, 1000base-sx rather than lx? Maybe you can swap out the sfp. Either way, I haven't looked to see what standard 1gb at&t runs on.

I can pull 950+ all day, up and down. You can run a speed test from within your modem itself. If you aren't getting at least over 800 I would call AT&T to complain. If you are getting good speed there but getting poor speed on your devices then something is wrong with your internal network. Make sure you are using at least Cat5e cables. Cat6 if you have them but Cat5e is good enough for a gigabit network. Test with other devices as well. I had one old laptop that would only pull about 300-400 even though I was using a Cat5e cable and the specs claim the NIC supported gigabit. But my other 2 computers could get 900+ with no problems. I realized that laptop was too old and most likely the drivers did not support full duplex.

In any case, Gigabit is not just in the name. It is the speed I am able to get.

EDIT: I just ran a speed test from within the modem itself and got 967 down and 887 up.

You're right. The modem is getting that. My phone is getting about 375. But that being said, my comcast service was supposedly 50 and I was getting 5-7, so this is quite the upgrade for less money. I'm pretty satisfied.

Yes indeed. Taxes on at&t internet is not a standard tax like 9.5% in Los Angeles CA. Taxes are very little on the internet. Directv is a different story. A WHOLE LOT of taxes are on that.
