They're instructed to be great to new customers to hook you in. Once I've been a customer, its back to beg and claw for everything or any bill credit or adjustment -- if you have the hour upon hour to spend on hold until they finally get it right.
I've dealt with Verizon wireless, Comcast, Dish Network...none of which are perfect, but all of them are leaps and bounds better that AT&T in my experience. I'm sure AT&T's individual people are nice enough, but organizationally, the business relationship was ATTrocious & not worth any savings to be garnered.
HOWEVER the BGW210-700 gateway is TRASH. It works perfect on wired but when you toss in a few wireless devices it struggles to manage the load. In front of the modem the most I can get in 5ghz is 200mbps with various devices.
The other problem it seems to have is that it suffers from slow DNS responses. Every day browsing seems to take a hit and pages load slow. (No option to configure on the gateway but on devices like iPhones you can manually change it)
Put the modem in IP Passthrough (no true bridge mode option) and I got double NATed on my R6700. Played with all the settings and nothing. One solution I found was to set the static WAN IP to my public IP (which is being passed through by the att gateway) but the problem is eventually that address will change unless you have a static IP from ATT which costs extra.
In conclusion, the gateway is trash, the service is decent (due to the gateway) and I'm probably going to keep it since I have no other internet options in my neighborhood.

I was on third month of 12 month contract for 300mbps for $50. I called into customer service and was told that I was not eligible for the new promo since it was only for new customers. I have been a customer for 15 months now. I kindly asked for retention dept and was transferred. I asked about the promo and rep said no problem. While I was on the call, rep changed my plan to $49.99 1gbps plan with HBO Max. I logged into my account and saw the new plan was added and it said that I had 13 months left on the new plan.
