10 bucks isnt for the router, its not even for the modem - its for the Fiber to ethernet converter box that you cannot buy. Thats why even if you have your own compatible modem/router they can still charge you the $10.

I was able to get this promo, moving from 300Mbps for $49.99 to 1Gbps at the same price.
But most of my devices are WiFi, and I'm not noticing any change. All speed tests' results come at 270-330Mbps. I have tried sitting next to the AT&T router, with 3 laptops, one with a N card, other have an AC and the other has an AX card. Same result with the three.

Any idea of how to improve this?

I think I should at least be getting 500.
AT&T Support doesn't know anything.
With cable is good, close to 900.

SAVEMORE only shows an extra $100 for me now. I was seeing $200 a couple days go.

I have Frontier Fios and that device is called a ONT (Optical Network Terminator) and Frontier charges me nothing for having that device. I pay for my service and service only and use my own router.

I hope this helps someone. I just called and they were able to provide an "override" to reduce my bill from $60 to $40 per month and it comes with HBO Max. Now I don't know if that had anything to do with my mobile lines or not but it worked. However, I did spend about 30mins on the phone due to the reps 'system issues'. Good luck.

TLDR: called to reduce existing 1000 line from $60 to $40 with HBO Max.

With affordable wifi the best you will get is 300mbps. spend hundreds of dollar on bleeding edge stuff and you will max out at 500mbps on a good day. Gigabit is only justified for wired computers.

Seriously? I thought AC was supposed to offer close to 1Gb, that's why I was expecting at least 500. If I use my old wireless N router, I get 300Mb or super, and that's its limit.

I concur.

Had an AT&T Fiber guy at my house over the weekend and he reiterated the same thing. ATT keeps on pushing these high internet speeds but their hardware is not able to accommodate the speed. Hard wire is the way to go. If not, accept 200 - 350 mbps on WiFi.

Yeah all the numbers on the protocols are theoretical limits and don't include overhead. I have a dedicated 802.11ac Wave 2 link for a desktop (only 20 feet from AP) and on a good day I get 500mbps. Haven't tried Wifi 6 yet, but I doubt it's leaps and bounds.

i am getting 200mb+ currently with my cable internet on wifi.. my nighthawk router should be capable of much more so if i get 300 on gigabit then that would be a dissapointment

Well I don't have AT&T- Cox Cable (Los Angeles) but reading a few earlier posts- I saw if you got the right CSR and you had a AT&T Mobile Service $39.99 was available

Just had the fiber installed and I'm going to assume you could since they install a fiber to Ethernet converter which then is connected to the modem via an Ethernet cable. Might have to get AT&T to allow the modem on their end, but I see no need to replace the modem. You can plug in your own router to handle the WiFi though.
