10 bucks isnt for the router, its not even for the modem - its for the Fiber to ethernet converter box that you cannot buy. Thats why even if you have your own compatible modem/router they can still charge you the $10.

AT&T claims to have fiber in my area, but when I start an order it says 25 Mbps service. Sounds like something that requires an acoustic coupler.

AT&T just updated me from 300 Mbps to 1 Gbps for free and includes HBOMax so happy about that. I have Internet,Uverse,and Wireless with AT&T so that's probably the reason.

My dreaded last day of $20/month yearly contract with Comcast is tomorrow. Hope I can get a deal at retention or will have to cancel and order again. No at&t fiber where we live. Sucks to be stuck with Comcast

how much of a deposit are we talking about here? And how easy/fast is it to freeze?

For example, i currently have one hard inquiry on my equifax and zero on transunion. If say I freeze equifax would it try the other?

Just curious if this is worth the effort and if there is any downside.

Haven't tried it yet. I'm only paying $30/month all in for 100Mb down with Comcast. Just have been getting close to 1tb/month and not sure if even the new 1.2tb/month cap will be enough going forward. I'll certainly post an update if I go through with it. I do miss the 3-4ms ping and 940Mb downpipe for sure.

What if I have an ONT (the fiber to ethernet converter) already? I had ATT Fiber earlier where they threw in a free ONT and router at the time. When I canceled they asked me to return the router but not the ONT, so I still have it. Would they charge for it if I reconnected the service?
