I was at a Home Depot (Southwest Houston) this afternoon and saw this 18-Volt ONE+ Lithium-Ion Cordless 2-Tool Combo Kit w/ Drill/Driver, Circular Saw, (2) 1.5 Ah Batteries, Charger, and Bag that was listed for $99. Both the tools are likely a great option for a new home owner DIYer and it includes 2 batteries and a charger. Seems like a decent deal and could be YMMV. I am linking their website that mentions this at $129. I am including a picture (zoom in to see the price of $99 on the right side).

Mostly cutting material to the size you need instead of the size that's available from the home center. With this set plus some 2x4's and plywood for example you could easily build shelving units for garage storage. You could even build a decent workbench. Try checking out Woodworking for Mere Mortals on YouTube for a ton of great ideas that only use basic per tools. The batteries are small but it would be a good starter set for the price.
Thanks! I got the impact wrench deal that comes with 4ah battery so I'll look for a deal to get the saw by itself.
Actually, if you already have an impact driver this would be a perfect set. A drill and impact driver are quite different eventhough they look the same. An impact is more about brute force so it's great for jaming 2x4s together. A drill has variable speed so it's got more finesse, it holds round shank bits like countersinks and drill bits, and is designed to drill holes where as the impact is not.
For example you'd typically put your countersink bit in the drill and star (or torx, even better if you're just starting) bit in the impact. You'd then countersink your work so it's takes the screw without splitting then drive in the screw with the impact without having to switch bits. Plus you'd have a 1.5ah for each drill and impact and a 4ah for the saw. That'd be perfect.

D'oh, you're right. Which is even less like a drill so I'd personally still look at this set if I were just getting started.
The impact wrench deal comes with a 4 Ah battery vs 1.5 Ah with this one. I don't need 2 batteries yet.
