This seems like an ok deal. Would be nice if they included the pen with these, can't imagine that would drive up their cost that much. Oh well.

Solid. I've had this for 6 months, no issues. Nice screen and sound, good keyboard for the size and weight (no thinkpad though)

I've played with these in store. The build quality is really nice - easily the match of most $1000 laptops.

I like the design as well, but why the h@ck would a manufacturer solder the RAM so you can't upgrade? Probably because the manufacturer used a cheap motherboard that can't handle more RAM.

I would have actually considered it, but the non-upgradeable RAM is a no-no. 8GB is fine for most people, but there's no excuse to not have at least one slot open.

I wish they didn't do it either, but more and more laptops are going this way, especially 2-in-1's and ultraportables, if you eliminate a laptop for soldered RAM your choices are pretty limited.

You're signed in and there's no box on the right showing $600? If so maybe it's a students-only deal, not for all My Best Buy members.

I think they use a cheap motherboard and max out the RAM to create a disposable laptop that needs replacing every 5 years or so. It's the Apple iPhone, iPad, etc model. Solid build quality, good screen, and similar specs make it a solid purchase...for now. Buyers will then have a good feeling about the manufacturer and buy a replacement in the future.

Upgradeable RAM and hard drive allows a buyer to stretch out the life of the machine. The processor isn't as important as RAM and hard drive space. I bought a cheap Lenovo several years ago with a 4300 series Intel processor, HDD and 8 GB of RAM. Fast forward a few years and I upgraded the RAM to 16GB and a solid state drive. Still going very strong and can run anything I need. No, it can't play the latest games, but I'm not a gamer.

It seems like this is a pretty well made machine.. that's what I'm looking for. Something premium feeling. Is this the laptop for me? I will mess around with excel, day trade, and read on it. Will this one be efficient for that?
