The 8gb soldered Ram and the 250nit screen are a deal breaker, looking for something that won't be outdated in a couple years, especially over $600 with tax.

Yup, I bought a 3700u from them two years ago, with that single 8GB of ram it totally kills the GPU because it can't take advantage of double data rate.

The description did say that memory is expandable to 16GB, so at least it seems like there are options to add more RAM.

Tried to get in before the outcry about the 8GB ram.

Please tell me what you plan to do on this budget laptop that requires more than 8GB of RAM?

This one is similar price range (5% higher price) but 16gb ram. Well worth the extra $30 imo.

Nobody. But it seems like everyone is just following the crowd on 8GB RAM bashing.

For 95% of consumers that would even consider this laptop, 8GB of RAM is plenty and would never know the difference if it had 16GB or maybe even 4GB.
