Highly recommend waiting a month. B550 motherboard will be out, and supply limitations should be improved by then.
ddoubting. This is shipping issues and won't be resolved until they figured out how to ship things from overseas to here without all those commercial planes flying especially now trump plans to band flights from there from entering. Also the covid19 also adds to the problem with thr shipping space via water are usually reserved for PPP.
Most are estimating around Sept. At the earliest before some type of normality to return.
First Asus b550 was available for preorder for 179 which is a good indicator of b550 boards will be overpriced, you might as well get b450 for low to mid builds and x570 for OC builds, b550 price points are useless

I never understood the point of overclocking ryzen 3000 series, for the minimal performance boost.

Red tech gaming, just did a synopsis of the supply shortage in PC components.
Is Chinese New year, temporary shutdown factories.
The supply chain is a big issue between the Asian countries
Most cargo ships can only carry a few containers for computer parts, because they are being devoted to PPE equipment, manufactures are having to air mail, which is more expensive.... And still not enough room available on flights.
stimulus checks people being at home buying computer parts, is a big factor too.
It will be by the end of the year with back to normal.
But if the price is good and B550 will be more expensive and won't provide tangible benefits for most then why wait?
B550 will provide you the ability to use PCIE 4.0 components, and also the newer USB. If you dont think you will ever use those technologies then sure, go with the 450.
Partpicker puts out a warning when selecting these two parts: "Warning! Some AMD B450 chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Matisse CPUs. Upgrading the BIOS may require a different CPU that is supported by older BIOS revisions."
Is this not an Issue? I'd assume if they are being sold together then they are compatible but I'm building my first PC, don't want to blow it.

If you are going into a MicroCenter, they usually have boxes of these boards marked that they have already updated the bios on. Be sure to ask them about it, they will do the update for you in store if needed.

When it was new last summer I got a Kraken but seeing how little boost was possible with even a top tier AIO I never opened it and saved $100.
